Bill Burr comedy special

No one is doing comedy like Bill Burr. The stand-up comedian with the instantly recognizable (and thick) Boston accent does not shy away from controversial topics. Cancel culture? Bill Burr has never heard of it, and actually has railed against the practice of canceling celebrities and comedians in a number of his sets - and often on his hilarious solo Monday Morning Podcast (he just talks to himself for half an hour, it's amazing). From time to time, Bill Burr makes headlines with material in his stand-up routine. You might remember his take on the WNBA both from when it originally debuted and when it went viral once more when sports fans saw how much Caitlin Clark would be paid as a rookie. And it's the same cycle every single time when Burr says something "controversial." It's happening once again thanks to a report from the San Francisco Gate about a recent show that the comedian did at UC Berkeley (in Berkeley, California). Just so you know, this is the cycle that I was referring to just a second ago: 1) Bill Burr says something that angers people, even though it is just a joke 2) A news agency grabs onto it and reports about it, almost in an attempt to slander Burr (we are currently here) 3) Burr's following grows more because of the fact that people got upset about one of his jokes This time around, Burr walked into UC Berkeley, a university known for leaning somewhat on the liberal side, and straight up told people in attendance that he hated liberals. Those are his own words, by the way. He was mostly referring to incessant virtue -signaling without actually doing anything to help the causes they claim to support. "I f**king hate liberals... if you run into a White person who says they're an empath, run the other way. (Those people) like making other peoples' suffering about (themselves)." He also referred to people who hang a "Black Lives Matter" sign in their window without doing anything to actually help black communities: “That’s like if I told you my great-grandmother in Germany had a ‘Knock it off, Nazis’ sign.” https://twitter.com/SFGate/status/1800367362421436905 I love that. What did people expect Bill Burr (who is actually probably pretty liberal himself) to do? Tone down his set so he didn't hurt people's feelings? In case you aren't familiar with the comedian, he usually does the exact opposite of that. According to the story, Bill went on to touch on the Black Lives Matter movement, Joe Biden potentially having dementia, and many other "right on the line" topics that helped serve his set. Burr often drudges deep into a controversial topic, sets up camp right in the middle of it, and then eviscerates any and every side of it. There are no holds barred in Bill Burr's comedy, and this latest show at UC Berkeley is just adding to Burr's greatest hits.
