Almost over.
1923 season 2 is currently airing, and it’s already shorter than season 1… but it’s going to end sooner than most fans might expect.
While the main complaint this year has been how slow the story has been in terms of Spencer and Alexandra getting home to Montana, I don’t think fans meant they wanted it to just be over, but apparently, there are only two episodes left, according to Screen Rant.
The first season of the Paramount show was only eight episodes long, and this season is only seven episodes… so that means there are just a few more episodes before the finale on Sunday, April 6th, which will be a two hour finale, so they’re basically just combining two episodes into one and it’s more like a finale movie.
In total run time, it’s probably similar to the first season really, but for a season that has been so slow and really not all that much has happened in terms of advancing the storyline, it feels premature and fans are not loving it, though they haven’t been impressed with it much at all in general so I guess it won’t be that upsetting…
Fans on Reddit seemed annoyed, but not all that surprised considering how disappointing this season has been in general:
“This doesn’t make sense. They wrapped filming months ago and did all their edit before the new season even started. You mean to tell me that they didn’t know there were only 7 episodes?”
“Well it looks like above shows that they just combined 2 episodes into one. How do they have the audacity to make us wait 2 years only to drag the story out and not even give us a full 8 ep season? Sounds like Paramount and TS are saying FU to all the people who’ve become invested in these shows over the years”
“I remember a time when TV shows had 20+ episodes per season.”
“It very much reminds me of Silo season 2, it was a slow burner season where the main character spent most of the episodes on one side quest after the other. People weren’t happy in the show’s sub either. The difference is that Silo continues, while 1923 will wrap.”

Unfortunately for the fan that left the last comment, 1923 was always intended to be a limited series, so it’s likely the show will be over after season 2 comes to an end. It will be a lot to move the plot so far in just a couple more episodes, enough to tie up all the loose ends and complete the show correctly, but somehow it’s gotta happen.
Enjoy it while it lasts, I guess… because the show won’t be going much longer, and they’ve got a whole lot to wrap up first.
