Would you like a small mouse with your bagel?
If you are reading this and your about to go to Nashville for your bachelorette party, it might be a good idea to keep your eyes peeled for mice and/or rats running amuck at BNA. Based on this viral video below, they prefer to hang out in the baked goods containers within BNA’s many coffee shops.
Nashville’s international airport sees around 65,000 passengers every single day. That adds up to over 23 million people per year that travel to or through “Music City.” I wish I could throw out some “this many rodents also travel through BNA on a daily basis” statistics, but I unfortunately don’t have any. All I do know is that at least one was spotted crawling around on some bagels, and someone took a video and posted it to TikTok.
That video now has over 3.5 million views.
From what we can tell, a traveler was standing in line presumably to get a cup of coffee. I’d assume she wasn’t interested in the baked goods – at least not anymore – after she saw a mouse crawling around inside the display like it some sort of pet container at PetSmart.
I’m not an expert on mice, but it sure looked like the little rodent was trying to find a way out… and in the process was stepping all over the not-so-fresh-anymore bagels that were placed by the line in hopes of enticing customers to add one to their order. That’s just food service 101. Place it out within eyesight, and people might impulse buy.
That is if there’s not a mouse running all over the food you are trying to sell:

Something tells me that the health inspector isn’t going to like that.
Per usual with a TikTok, once the video went viral, the comment section really got cooking. There were thousands of people contributing their thoughts of disgust to the post, saying things such as:
“Why are you still in line?”
“Damn. When they say ‘everything bagel’ they really mean it.”
“Those aren’t poppy seeds… they’re poopy seeds.”
“I would simply pass away.”
“As a BNA frequenter, I am horrified.”
And there was also a category of replies that I honestly got a big kick out of. The TikToker who initially posted the video, Ashten Weniger, compared the mouse sighting to the Pixar movie Ratatouille.
That apparently inspired some social media users to rush to the mouse’s defense, as if the video didn’t tell the entire story:
“Did you ever consider he might literally work there? Maybe he’s quality inspection. Normalize not recording strangers in public.”
“He looks stressed. Was he the only one on shift?”
“You probably got him fired.”
“As long as he washed his hands, I’m gonna eat.”
“He’s just walking around like ‘Who closed last night?'”
