Can’t say we didn’t see this coming.
Once again, the MLB has outdone themselves with a lineup of new hats for the upcoming season. They recently rolled out their New Era “Overlap” hats which put the team’s logo right over the team’s name and there’s just no way around it: They’re ugly as sin.
I guess the Orioles and Blue Jays look okay but seriously every single other one is horrible, especially the Texas Rangers, not so much because of the design but because of something else… See if you spot the problem:
No worries if you didn’t notice it since you’d have to know a little bit of Spanish, but “tetas” en Español means… tits.
Yep, that’s right, the MLB greenlit mass producing a hat with “tits” written on it and had it listed on the MLB Shop website for sometime. The Angels were toeing a fine line with “anaels” and the Houston “Ashos” sounds like a slur… Reminds me of that Athletics (can’t say Oakland Athletics anymore because the team in homeless… man, is the league falling apart or what?) hat that clearly said “ass” on the front.
I mean what are we doing here people? Is this entire process AI automated or is everyone working for you braindead? It’d be one thing if the hats visually looked cool and the language issue was just an oversight but in no way shape or form can you look at these designs and excuse anything. It’s just that bad.
Well, the “Tetas” hats were (naturally) pulled from the shelves as soon as the internet exploded with jokes but it seems like some lucky fans were able to get their hands on some and are now selling them for an extreme mark up on eBay. To be fair, I don’t know if this is real because how would they possible have been shipped to you already if they only went live a day or so ago? Maybe these are employees offloading a box that “fell off the truck” and if so, well good on them.
A screenshot taken shows multiple of these hats selling for up to $1,000 which is certifiably insane and makes me wonder how many people have that kind of money to piss away just lying around.
You’ve truly got to see it to believe it.
After the Rangers’ hat was removed from the MLB store due to containing a Spanish vulgarity, the resale values are currently to through the roof on eBay.

A quick search of eBay right now shows a few of these hats available, listed for anywhere from $36 bucks (looks like a hastily made knock-off) to $900. Safe to say, whether it’s the actual ones that were made or a bunch of knock-offs, there’s bound to be a ton of Tetas Rangers gear in Arlington come opening day.
Check out some of the comments on the Tetas Rangers hat before you go and head over to MLB Shop to score some gear for the season. You truly never know what you’re going to find over there…
“Copping a Tetas Texas Rangers hat for the love of the game.”
“A Tetas hat is insane.”
“The Texas Rangers Tetas hat might turn some heads.”
“Guy who loves the Texas Rangers and big melons: ‘If only I could find a hat that combines my passions.’”
“Tetas sells.”
“As a Rangers fan, I couldn’t be more in love with the TETAS hat.”
“I’m buying all available stock of the TETAS hat.”
“Everything’s bigger in Texas, right?”
