Why is social media up in arms about a post that Gwen Stefani shared?
Well, the singer-songwriter (and wife of country music star Blake Shelton) took to her X account last week to share and commend an interview that she listened to that spoke openly about Jesus, Christianity and Catholicism. That interview just so happened to be a sit down between actor Jonathan Roumie and Tucker Carlson on The Tucker Carlson Show.
Roumie has previously played Jesus Christ in the series The Chosen, and also starred as evangelist Lonnie Frisbee in the film Jesus Revolution. And since then, he’s been incredibly open about his relationship with Jesus and the power of fasting and prayer. Those topics and more were covered in depth in the hour and 20 minute conversation that was posted straight to X:
My friends…Had an AMAZING conversation with @TuckerCarlson, out now! https://t.co/xxEUScB4iB

It’s been one week since that episode of The Tucker Carlson Show came out, and it’s already been viewed over 3 million times.
One thing that probably helped draw some eyes to the conversation was the message that Gwen Stefani shared about the interview. The “Just A Girl” singer reposted the post about the video and shared this supportive message:
“Wow Jonathan Roumie, you are a powerful, inspirational human. What an enlightening, intelligent, beautiful interview. Thank you for being you.”

Nothing wrong with that… right?
Not if you ask the cruel and unforgiving world of social media. As soon as Gwen posted her support of Roumie, some of Gwen’s fans came unglued, and immediately reacted by bombarding the post with negative messaging, condemning Stefani for sharing something from Tucker Carlson, accusing her of being pro-Trump, a right-wing grifter, a Bible-thumper and more. Some fans went as far to write her off completely, argued they were betrayed, and many were “begging” her to delete it.
A delusion bunch, indeed:
Ohh Gwen becoming a right wing grifter

Here’s the deal though… Gwen Stefani is Catholic (or at least was raised Catholic). Jonathan Roumie is also Catholic. Basically, the pop star heard an interview of someone who shares the same religious beliefs as her, thought the content was good, and shared it. In 2025, that’s apparently deserving of negative backlash, and honestly that’s really disheartening.
These political “labels” that get thrown around automatically arm or disarm certain members of the population now, to where Gwen Stefani can’t even share an interesting video that discusses Christianity, Jesus and Catholicism without being labeled as a “right wing grifter.”
That being said, there are some social media users that have rushed to Stefani’s defense as the rest of the comment section rips her apart for sharing the Tucker Carlson
Thank you for sharing! What a beautiful message from an equally beautiful soul. Love you Gwen. Never change

I applaud your celebration of your faith. May God bless you in every way possible.

I love that you don’t mind sharing your faith as well. We need more of this.

Great to see people rooting for the things they love, not being dissuaded by those who seek to tear down what others love, over misguided misunderstanding of what things really are.

Great to see that some people were able to free themselves from the trend of “this person associated themselves with this, so they must be my enemy” mindset…
