You love to see stuff like this.
Last night, President Donald Trump addressed Congress for the first time since he took office in January. He discussed many things, like the tariffs he has installed, the plethora of government cuts he (and Elon Musk) have made, and provided updates on the U.S’s foreign affairs. Trump also set the record for longest presidential address to Congress, coming in just under one hour and 45 minutes.
Say what you want about Donald Trump, but the man can give a speech.
There weren’t many “come together” moments during the proceedings. Most of what Donald Trump had to say resulted in a lot of applause from Republicans, and a lot of disgruntlement from Democrats. The only real moment that provided some unification was when the Commander in Chief took a moment to recognize a young boy battling cancer that was in attendance.
The brave young man, whose name is D.J. Daniel, has been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer at just 13-years old. He details some of the harrowing moments of his life in the video below, and also reveals that he’s already had 13 brain surgeries. In the clip, Daniel took time to thank both his father and Donald Trump for helping him to make it to this day:
D.J. Daniel joined President Trump at the Joint Session—a 13-year-old battling cancer who has been sworn in as an honorary officer over 900 times.

As you can see in the caption of the post above, Daniel has been sworn in as an honorary officer over 900 times.
But his dream has always been to be sworn in by the Secret Service, and President Trump made that dream come true during his address to Congress last night. At one point, the POTUS asked for D.J. Daniel to stand, and that’s when the young boy battling cancer got the surprise of a lifetime when he was told by the President that he was officially a member of the Secret Service:
“I am asking our new Secret Service Director Sean Curran to officially make you an agent of the United States Secret Service.”
What an incredible moment President Trump's just Direct Secret Service Director Sean Curran to names DJ Daniel a Texas boy battling cancer with his dream job to become a Secret Service agent.

Love the “DJ” chants that broke out throughout the House chamber.
In my humble opinion, we need more unifying moments like this one. It was awesome to see the shock and delight on Daniel’s face when he found out he would be named an honorary Secret Service agent, and it was also nice to see everyone celebrate the moment online:
Watch his eyes when he hears his name. Surprised. His Dad lifting him up. Then the hug for becoming a USSS agent. Was a pretty amazing moment. This is what winning looks like.

Really special moment – I wish Agent Daniel all the best in his new role and the battles ahead! No child should ever be faced with a cancer battle.

Seeing his eyes get wide as he heard it will be one of the best moments of live tv I’ve ever seen.

All politics aside… this was a really heartwarming gesture from the President of the United States. D.J. Daniel has been through and seen it all as a teenager, and he certainly deserved to be named an honorary Secret Service agent.
