The Philadelphia Eagles are still in the midst of celebrating their Super Bowl win.
If I were them, I’d keep the celebration going right up until the new NFL season starts. After all, they did dethrone the Kansas City Chiefs, and kept the team and their fanbase from sporting “three-peat” merchandise for the foreseeable future. For that, we all owe them big time. At least for this rendition of the Super Bowl, the Eagles were really “America’s Team,” as far as I’m concerned.
And it’s a tradition for the winning Super Bowl quarterback to say, “I’m going to Disney World” shortly after the game concludes. Eagles QB Jalen Hurts did just that, and was seen the next day riding on a float with Mickey Mouse. Some might call that the American Dream.
But I find it interesting that you don’t ever hear any players exclaim, “I’m going to the White House!” I suppose that could be because one place has “Space Mountain” and the other does not. Anyways, championship teams are typically extended invitations to visit the White House, though that visit doesn’t always happen immediately.
Because of the perceived delay, there were rumors swirling that the Eagles had declined a White House invite from President Trump. And that wasn’t exactly out of the realm of possibility, since Philly turned down the opportunity to visit the Commander in Chief after their last Super Bowl win back in 2017 (during Trump’s first term).
That was when the Eagles – along with other teams – had players kneeling during the National Anthem… and Trump suggested that NFL team owners to fire any players who refused to stand for the anthem.
Even with that history, the rumor that the Eagles didn’t want to travel as a team to Washington D.C. to ring in their championship was a little surprising – mainly because President Donald Trump has been a big supporter of the NFL as of late. He even attended the Super Bowl, and became the first sitting President to ever do so (surprising, right?).
The only argument that made sense (other than Philly wanting to stay out of politics) was that the Eagles could have seen the reports before the “Big Game” of Trump seeming to favor Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs… and the Eagles were holding a grudge.
But now, we can put all of those rumors and speculation to bed. ESPN’s tried-and-true reporter Adam Schefter came out today citing sources within or around the Eagles and clearing the air on Philly reportedly skipping their visit to the White House:
“To those wondering: Eagles sources say the team is planning on visiting the White House this off-season and looks forward to receiving its invitation.”

So there you have it. The hypothetical beef between President Donald Trump and the Philadelphia Eagles has been squashed (shoutout Adam Schefter). In reality, Philly is simply awaiting to get the invite from the POTUS, and as the report suggests, they’d be honored to travel to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
Most social media users rejoiced when they heard the news that the Philadelphia Eagles would be participating in the championship tradition that is visiting the Commander in Chief on his home turf:
Good. Never turn down an opportunity to go to the White House
