55-Year Old Texas Man Arrested For Sending Sexually Explicit Messages To Caitlin Clark, Claimed He Had An “Imaginary Relationship” With The Basketball Star

Caitlin Clark stalker

Can't imagine having to deal with psychos like this. One of the perils of being a celebrity is that there are always going to be crazy fans out there, and a lot of times you don't really know their intentions. They may just be a superfan who wants to meet you, but they could also be a crazed stalker who's actually dangerous. I mean, Mark David Chapman shot John Lennon because he wanted to get Jodie Foster's attention so she would fall in love with him. You just never know what these people are thinking. Of course Caitlin Clark is one of the most famous athletes in America right now, after the WNBA player was drafted with the #1 pick in 2024 by the Indiana Fever and named the league's Rookie of the Year. Clark has brought a lot of the attention to the league, with Fever games selling out both home and on the road for fans who want to see the young superstar. The problem with that, of course, is that there are going to be some crazies out there too. And one of those crazies was recently arrested in Indianapolis for stalking and sending sexually explicit message to Clark over Twitter/X. According to court documents, 55-year old Michael Lewis of Denton, Texas sent some pretty disturbing messages to the Indiana Fever star: “Been driving around your house 3x a day. But don’t call the law just yet.” He also told Clark that he was coming to her game, and that he had bought tickets directly behind the team's bench. After Clark reported the messages to police, officers were able to track down Lewis at a hotel in Indianapolis where he claimed that the messages were a "fantasy-type thing" and a joke, telling police that he was in "an imaginary relationship" with Clark. But even after being told that he had been banned from Fever home games at Hinkle Fieldhouse and Gainbridge Fieldhouse, the messages continued, with Lewis telling Clark that he had been banned from Gainbrige but that he would just go her away games and asked if that way ok. (No dude, it's not). Clark reported being fearful due to the messages, and told police that she had started changing her appearance in public and altering her patterns of movement out of fear for her safety. Lewis was arrested yesterday at his hotel in Indianapolis and charged with felony stalking, which carries a maximum penalty of one to six years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000 if convicted. In a statement, the Marion County Prosecutor's Office praised Clark for coming forward with the allegations:
"No matter how prominent a figure you are, this case shows that online harassment can quickly escalate to actual threats of physical violence.
It takes a lot of courage for women to come forward in these cases, which is why many don't. In doing so, the victim is setting an example for all women who deserve to live and work in Indy without the threat of sexual violence.
We commend Pacers Sports & Entertainment, and the Marion County Sheriff's Office for the swift and serious action that led to this weekend’s arrest." What a creep. It's a shame that female celebrities (or any celebrities) have to deal with this stuff, but luckily this guy was taken off the streets before he could harm Clark or anybody else.
