Brock Purdy Gifts 10 Brand New Toyotas To His Linemen, Which Probably Cost Nearly All Of His $900,000 Salary

Brock Purdy

Brock Purdy spared no expense buying Christmas gifts for his offensive line... but maybe he should have? I only say that because Purdy is still on one of the cheapest NFL quarterback contracts in the league. The San Francisco 49ers QB is playing on the final year of his rookie deal, which he signed after being drafted with the very last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. He owns the title of "Mr. Irrelevant," in case you forgot. Purdy looked like "Mr. Moneybags" though when he surprised his 10 offensive linemen with their annual holiday gifts. If you didn't know, it has become a tradition for NFL quarterbacks to buy gifts for the guys on the O-line that protect them (at least most of the time) from getting tackled by the defense. It's always cool to see what quarterbacks - who are typically the highest paid players on the team - splurge on to treat their upfront guys. Just yesterday, Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes got a lot of attention online for buying his offensive line Yeti coolers, boots, Rolex watches and other expensive items. After all, Mahomes is on a 10-year, $450 million deal. Those gifts were all impressive, but certainly not as much as the gifts Brock Purdy (who is getting paid  $900,000  year) offered up to his offensive linemen: https://twitter.com/49ers/status/1869925690742845651?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1869925690742845651%7Ctwgr%5E22c69021bcf20168f855321d50d10b0e9591eb61%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fbrobible.com%2Fsports%2Farticle%2Fbrock-purdy-christmas-gift-cost-salary-offensive-line-toyota%2F If you ask me, a new ride for Christmas beats out a new watch... not that it's a competition or anything, but Mahomes looks like a bum after this). To be clear, Purdy gifted five Toyota Sequoias (TRD Pro models which start at $80,000 a piece) and five Toyota Tundras (also TRD Pro models, which start at $72,000 a piece). And these trucks look pretty loaded so that adds up to well over $750,000 in cars for his offensive line. Reminder, he's only making $900,000 a year, meaning his gifts easily equate to more than half of his annual salary. And go ahead and factor in his income taxes into the equation, maybe his agent fees, and you're probably looking at nearly ALL of Brock's take-home pay this season. How is that possible? Luckily for Brock Purdy, he's got a national partnership with Toyota, so the car company undoubtedly gave him a pretty good deal on the 10 vehicles. But as you saw in the video below, the offensive lineman don't care how the automobiles got paid for... they are just happy to be able to drive off in one courtesy of their QB. Regardless of how much Purdy put forward to help provide his O-line with gifts that you typically only see in holiday car commercials, it's a very generous offering from the young quarterback. Something tells me his offensive linemen will be working even harder to keep the pocket clean for the rest of the season. And the internet loved the gifts just as much as the linemen did... though some were concerned with the financial aspect of the gift giving for Brock Purdy: Good thing he's expected to sign a big ol' contract in the offseason. That $900,000 a year is about to turn into $30-50 million.
