Ohio University OL Parker Titsworth Finished His College Career In The Cure Bowl, Which Promotes Breast Cancer Research

Parker Titsworth Ohio University

Some things were just meant to be. I'll be honest, I don't know a lot about Ohio University football these days. I went to Marshall, so we used to have a pretty healthy rivalry with them when we were in the MAC, and even after that we'd have semi-regular out of conference meetings with Ohio, but we haven't played them for a few years so I haven't followed them as closely in recent years. But what I do know about them is one of their players has the best name in college football: Meet Parker Titsworth. The graduate student is in his fifth and final year as an offensive lineman for the Bobcats, appearing in all thirteen games this year and even recording his first career reception earlier this season during a game against Miami of Ohio. He was also named to Phil Steele's All-MAC Postseason Team, and has been on the Academic All-MAC team for his entire career in Athens. Let's be honest though, that's not what we're really here to talk about. Not for a guy with a last name like Titsworth. The 6'1", 290 lb lineman appropriately chose the number 69 for his football career, which is pretty amazing in and of itself. But in an almost poetic end to his time at Ohio University, the Bobcats were selected to play the Jacksonville State Gamecocks in the Cure Bowl in Orlando, Florida. Why is that so amazing, you may ask? Well the Cure Bowl got its name to promote breast cancer awareness and research, and proceeds from the game go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. So for his last game, Parker Titsworth played in a game that's meant to raise money for breast cancer research. Come on, you know it's funny. Ahead of the game, the Group of Five Guys shared a photo of Titsworth on the field, complete with his pink socks and cleats and a breast cancer awareness ribbon on his helmet along with the rest of the players in the bowl. https://twitter.com/GroupOfFiveGuys/status/1870144391911772262 I mean, the jokes just write themselves. In a fitting end to Titsworth's college career, the Bobcats took down the Gamecocks 30-27. But in a total travesty, the MVP of the game was given to Ohio quarterback Parker Navarro instead of its rightful recipient, Titsworth. Oh well, can't win 'em all. He may not have been the MVP, but Titsworth did earn an even bigger honor as the photo of his game went viral: Former NFL wide receiver and founder of CTESPN Antonio Brown named the stud his Cracker of the Day. https://twitter.com/AB84/status/1870230368827126238 Cracker of the day indeed. I know bowl season isn't what it used to be, with NIL and the transfer portal, as well as the College Football Playoffs, kind of taking the excitement out of some of these earlier bowl games. Hell, my school had to turn down their bowl invite because so many of our players hit the transfer portal. But without these bowls, we wouldn't get incredible moments like this. Isn't college football the breast - sorry, best?
