![Joe Biden]()
But he was totally fit to serve for another four years, right?
Up until this summer, you weren't allowed to question President Joe Biden's mental capacity without the media and Democrats accusing you of spreading misinformation while insisting that the 82-year old was as sharp and energetic as he's ever been.
Of course everybody knew it was bullshit, because they were telling us to ignore everything that we were seeing with our own eyes. But still, it was fake news if you tried to say that Biden wasn't up for the job or didn't have the stamina and mental capacity to serve as President of the United States for another four years.
That all changed back in June after the president's disastrous performance against Donald Trump during the presidential debate, when it became impossible for Democrats and the media to ignore the obvious concerns over Biden's ability to serve another four years as president.
Immediately, several prominent Democrats began calling for Biden to drop out of the presidential race, and behind-the-scenes, people like Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama were privately urging him to step aside and let somebody else run against Trump.
Well all know what happened from there. Biden dropped out of the race just a few weeks later, he was replaced as the Democrat nominee by Vice President Kamala Harris, and former President Donald Trump ended up winning a second term in the White House.
And now that they don't have to cover it up anymore, Democrats and the media are finally willing to talk about just how bad of shape President Biden really was in during his four years in the White House - and like everybody was saying from the beginning, it sounds like it was pretty bad.
A bombshell report from the
Wall Street Journal yesterday painted a picture of a president who was closely guarded by his aides in an attempt to keep people from realizing just how bad he was. And one story perfectly illustrates the serious consequences of having a president who's not physically or mentally up for the job.
We all remember what happened during the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal back in 2021. After campaigning on finally bringing our troops home after 20 years in the country, Biden and his administration orchestrated a withdrawal that left 13 troops dead after a suicide bombing at Hamid Karzai International Airport and billions of dollars of US military equipment left behind - equipment that promptly fell right back into the hands of terrorist organizations after the Taliban quickly took the country back over.
And as it turns out, high-ranking officials in our government were trying to warn Biden about his planned withdrawal - but they were never even given the chance to speak to him.
Congressman Adam Smith, a Democrat from Washington, served as the chair of the Armed Services Committee in the House of Representatives. And he began growing concerned about what he believed were overly optimistic statements from the Biden administration, so he attempted to speak with the president about his concerns and express his insight into the region.
I mean, makes sense, right? He's the chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, seems like somebody Biden should be talking to throughout the process, no?
Well as it turns out, Smith couldn't even get through to Biden to warn him about what he saw as problems with the plan.
Smith's experience highlights what the Wall Street Journal reports as a president surrounded by staff who were overly protective and sensitive to the perception that he wasn't mentally sharp, so they tried to hide him as much as they could. Biden reportedly had "good days and bad days," so his staff would reschedule meetings on the bad days. And those meeting with the president were told to keep the meetings short and focused.
It's no surprise, then, that even the chair of the House Armed Services Committee wasn't able to reach the president about one of the biggest foreign policy disasters of his presidency. But Smith said that he finally did get a call from Biden - after he criticized the administration following the withdrawal.
Smith told the Washington Post that the Biden administration lacked a "clear-eyed view" of the Afghan government's ability to stand following the US withdrawal. But following those comments, he got an angry call from Secretary of State Antony Blinken - who Smith promptly put in his place.
Biden then called Smith to apologize, a phone call that would become the only time the powerful Congressman spoke to the president during his entire term:
"The Biden White House was more insulated than most. I spoke with Barack Obama on a number of occasions when he was president and I wasn’t even chairman of the committee.”
Unbelievable. Remember, up until six months ago the media was telling us that it was a Republican conspiracy theory to claim that Biden's mental state was declining.
But now that the election is over, the stories are finally starting to come out - and it sounds like those who were concerned had every reason to be.
