Kelly Reilly & Cole Hauser Will Officially Reprise Their Roles As Rip & Beth In New Yellowstone Spinoff Series

Kelly Reilly COle Hasuer Yellowstone

It's happening, people. With just a few days until the Yellowstone Season Finale, Paramount has dropped a bomb on fans, confirming that a modern-day spinoff series has been green-lit, starring Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly, who will reprise their roles as Rip Wheeler and Beth Dutton. The possibility of a Rip & Beth spinoff was initially floated back in August when news of The Madison came out. There was also rumors that Luke Grimes was working on a deal as well, but at the time, most of this was unconfirmed. It was then reported that both Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser were asking for $1 million per episode to continue working in the Yellowstone universe, which is quite a pretty penny... that's essentially what Costner was making, and what Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren were making for 1923. However, both Cole and Kelly confessed in various interviews that they would be open to it. Cole Hauser recently told Whiskey Riff: “My intention is to make sure we finish ‘Yellowstone’ strong, you know. I start in about 3 weeks. I just want to make sure that Taylor, Kelly, Luke, Wes, myself, everybody that has been a part of this show that we just end it.” And then, in a conversation with Country Living, Hauser echoed some of the sentiments about finishing that he shared with Whiskey Riff, and added that there’s an idea on the table featuring him and Kelly Reilly reprising their roles as Rip and Beth, possibly with more of the cast: “We’ll see where that leads, but I know that there’s some stuff on the horizon when it comes to Taylor’s ideas for Kelly Reilly and myself and some of the other cast. I’m excited to see where he goes creatively with that but right now it’s just, let’s finish strong; let’s do the best we can.” He later told Cigar Aficionado that he would be on board to continue playing his character after the main show does its final bow: “I don’t make the decisions – I’m a hired gun. Would I like a spinoff? Yeah. It’s been a pleasure working with this cast, with Taylor Sheridan; why would we stop a good thing? Yeah, pen it and let’s do it.” And it's happening. According to Deadline, Taylor Sheridan has agreed with Kelly and Cole to reprise their roles in some kind of spinoff series. "Series standouts Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser have closed deals to lead a spinoff series, reprising their roles as Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler." The series, which will NOT be considered Season 6, but WILL keep the name Yellowstone included as part of the title (the first spinoff to do so). It will likely also include more cast memebers from the flagship series. It's just unclear who. A lot of fans have been very confused about Paramount's intentional decision to not say "Series Finale," but rather "Season Finale," in their promo materials, leaving the door open for a 6th Season. Some fans even insist that John Dutton faked his death and that he'll be back in the next season. Well, that's not happening... Deadline says that a 6th season WAS on the table, but there is a very good business reason why they'd rather just tie a bow on Yellowstone and then continue the saga with a spinoff show. And that's because of their streaming platform Paramount+. If you're familiar with the Yellowstone universe, or even the Taylor Sheridan universe, you know that all of his shows stream on Paramount+ except Yellowstone. And that's because Paramount+ wasn't a thing when the show began back in 2017, and they inked a deal with Peacock to be the streaming partner of the show. So simply put, if they were to continue with a Yellowstone Season 6, Peacock would own the streaming rights. If they start a new show, even if it starts some of the same cast, they can bring it under their own roof... Paramount+. Nevertheless, a pretty cool development for Yellowstone fans who aren't quite ready to let Rip and Beth go yet. Of course, now we know neither of them are going to die in the Series Finale this Sunday... so that's a bit of a spoiler alert, but then again, I think the entire ending has been pretty predictable for YEARS. Either way... Taylor Sheridan continues to be the busiest man in the business. Paramount has also confirmed that aforementioned spinoff series The Madison, as well as another prequel series on the way, 1944.  https://twitter.com/Yellowstone/status/1866596181444325661
