![“It’s Me, Mario!” – Paparazzi Troll UnitedHealthcare CEO Shooting Suspect Luigi Mangione As He’s Being Led From Jail]()
![Luigi Mangione]()
Couldn't help himself.
There have been plenty of jokes flying about Luigi Mangione since he was arrested for last week's shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
The health insurance executive was gunned down in a shooting that was caught on video outside of his New York City hotel, before the suspect fled the scene on hopped on a bus out of the city.
Authorities had released photos of the suspect that gave us a clear look at his face, which were reportedly taken when he
removed his mask while flirting with an employee at the hostel he was staying at in the city. But on Monday, police finally got the break they needed when a customer at a McDonald's in Altoona, Pennsylvania spotted a man who resembled the images released of the shooter.
Police showed up and found not only a gun that matched the one used in the shooting, but also a fake ID believed to match the one the suspected shooter used to check into his hostel in NYC.
The man was
identified as 26-year old Luigi Mangione, an Ivy League graduate from a prominent Maryland family. And as you can expect, the internet had plenty of jokes about his name after he was identified:

But last night, as Mangione was led out of the Pennsylvania jail where he's being held without bail, apparently the paparazzi just couldn't help themselves, with one guy shouting as he left:
"Luigi it's me, Mario!"

Pretty low-hanging fruit, but when you see your chance to troll a murder suspect, I guess you gotta take it.
Mangione is currently being held not only on charges in Pennsylvania of forgery, firearms not to be carried without a license, tampering with records or identification, possessing instruments of crime, and false identification to law enforcement, but he's since been charged in NYC with one count of murder, two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, one count of second-degree possession of a forged document, and one count of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
He'll soon be extradited back to New York to be arraigned on his charges there, but at this point Mangione is fighting extradition so he will remain in Pennsylvania until a judge rules that he'll be sent back to NYC.
During his first court appearance, it was revealed that Mangione was found with $8,000 in cash and another $2,000 in foreign currency on him when he was arrested - but in a statement during his court appearance, the murder suspect alleged that the money was planted on him:

And yesterday, Mangione had an outburst in front of the press while being taken into court in shackles:
"It's completely out of touch and an insult to the intelligence of the American people and their lived experience."

No idea what he means by that, or if he was talking about the CEO that he's accused of murdering, but it seems like Mangione will have a lot to say when he gets his chance.
