Yellowstone really could be coming to an end after all, but... it certainly sounds like this isn't the end of the Dutton story. Most fans of the hit western drama have assumed that the series would be coming to an end after it basically took the stars to align to finish off what is expected to be the fifth and final season. And ironically, I used the "stars aligning" phrase even though Kevin Costner was never able to make his schedule work with the show, and the final episodes were forced to roll on without John Dutton. They handled that issue fairly quickly in the show. But as for the rest of the problems and storylines that still hang in the balance with only three episodes left in the season, Yellowstone director and executive producer Christina Alexandra Voros assured fans in an interview with Variety that everything would be tied up in a bow when it's all said and done: "I think this last batch of episodes leads us to the end of an era. It’s impossible to talk about it in any detail without tipping my hat towards things to come. But I think (co-creator and writer) Taylor Sheridan has managed to - and I’m really not sure how he’s done it, I think it’s sort of masterful - bring the ending to something that feels both shocking and fated at the same time. You need to get to the end of the story to fully understand everything that has come before.” Shocking and fated, eh? There were some rumors that Yellowstone - or at least some form of it - would continue on after the conclusion of the flagship series with Beth (played by Kelly Reilly) and Rip (played by Cole Hauser). However, the more that's said about the show, the more it sounds like this particular era of the Dutton saga will conclude (for now) in the next three episodes. That being said, the "tipping my hat towards things to come" part definitely seems to imply that more Yellowstone material is in the works. We know another season of 1923 is on the way, and another prequel with the working title 1944 has been green lit, not to mention the modern day The Madison, but it sounds like even more is coming from Taylor Sheridan and the Dutton family. As to what fans of the show should expect as the series presumably sings its swan song, executive producer Christina Alexandra Voros tried to give a sneak peak without giving too much away: "The best that they can hope for, as Beth says to Rainwater (Gil Birmingham), is holding on to some portion of the land and selling off some portion of it. But because John’s goal and dictate was not to sell any of it, anything short of that is a failure, not carrying on their father’s will, letting down generations of family members who have fought for and protected this place. You see them up against the very stark reality that they don’t have any moves to make to keep that from happening.” I guess we'll find out soon...
