![Jacksonville Mayor Announces Investigation Into Police Officers Caught On Video Punching Fans During Florida-Georgia Game]()
![Florida Georgia fights]()
Taking a closer look at this one.
There was plenty of action in yesterday's slate of SEC college football games - but not all of it was on the field.
Wild video surfaced yesterday of a brawl during the annual matchup between the Georgia Bulldogs and the Florida Gators at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida. It's not clear what led to the chaos, but video showed
multiple police officers throwing punches at fans as they attempted to control the situation.

Additional video showed cops eventually tased at least one of the men before cuffing him.

But that apparently wasn't the only incident police officers had with fans on Saturday. In another video, officers can be seen using their handcuffs like brass knuckles to pummel another guy.

Here's another angle:
Not a great look.
And now, the mayor of Jacksonville and the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office have announced an investigation into the officers involved in the incidents.
According to Mayor Donna Deegan:
"I’m aware of several disturbing videos circulating from yesterday’s game. I have spoken to Sheriff Waters and the incidents are under investigation. We are awaiting the outcome of that investigation."
And the office of Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters confirmed that they had launched an internal investigation into the officers' conduct:
"The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office’s Professional Standards Division is aware of the videos circulating from the Georgia-Florida football game. Administrative reviews of the incidents are being opened. As such, the agency will not comment until all facts are known and the reviews have been completed."

A man who witnessed one of the altercations said it all started when officers tried to verify the fan's ticket:
“If you look at my video, they made contact with this man and when he said, 'I'm not leaving my seats, I paid for them' they immediately pulled a taser on him instead of asking to see his tickets. He tried to show the tickets to the police officers. His wife tried to show the tickets to the police officer. The police officer told her to move she'd get tased too.”
He says that the man was eventually hit with the taser three separate times, as well as being punched by the officer.
Obviously if that's true, it seems to be an extreme overreaction by the officers and I'm sure we'll see discipline come out of the investigation.
It's just a shame we see so many of these altercations in the stands during sporting events these days, especially such a big game like Florida-Georgia.
