![Mindless Dodgers Fan Blows His Hand Off Lighting Fireworks To Celebrate World Series Win]()
![Dodgers fan fireworks]()
Talk about going from one of the greatest feelings in the world to one of the worst imaginable.
The Los Angeles Dodgers rallied from a 5-0 Game 5 deficit to stun the Yankees in New York and claim the World Series in a gentleman's sweep. As is always the case, there were
wholesome celebrations along with, unfortunately, the inevitable overreactions and chaos from fans celebrating the Dodgers' latest Commissioner's Trophy. One sad soul decided to light off fireworks in the middle of the street, and let's just say he didn't follow proper protocols.
Fair warning to duck and get out of here now, because this footage is downright graphic and bloody.

According to TMZ, the 25-year old fan suffered "debilitating" injuries to both hands, though he was at least alert and conscious when first responders arrived.
I remember many moons ago when I covered New York Giants star pass-rusher
Jason Pierre-Paul blowing up his hands in a fireworks accident around the 4th of July. Fireworks as a general concept have always presented to me like one of the most avoidable ways to seriously injure yourself in the history of humankind.
And look, I get it. You wanna celebrate something.
Somebody has gotta light 'em up. It will never be me. Maybe that's a hot take, or maybe that makes me less of a man. I'm frankly comfortable not going anywhere near fireworks and very, very occasionally enjoying them from afar. Feels like too much can go wrong, no?
Or maybe extreme cases like JPP and This Guy have me a little too cautious and fearful. Guess I'll maintain a centimeter of open-mindedness about lighting off fireworks going forward. But really, incidents like these put a damper on things for anyone and everyone connected to Dodger Nation and what should be a full-on great time. Not every day you win the World Series, although I guess that explains the lapse in judgment and erratic behavior.
If you're going to light fireworks, maybe don't do it in the middle of a public street. Can't imagine it's advisable or legal to do it, never mind that the dude is doing it next to a fire hydrant, storefronts or whatever else is in the surrounding area. That tree right above him could've for sure caught on fire given how unpredictable the explosion was when he held on too long.
Kind folks, I implore you: Set those harmless-post-launch sky missiles off in a safe, more controlled environment where things can't go so rogue. As I assume was the case in this scene from across Los Angeles.

It sucks when somebody has some horrible moment and it alters your life forever. This doesn't feel like the time to make light of the situation at all. Just a bummer for the young man who was trying to get in on the festivities, only to make a mortifying mistake. I guess the only silver lining is that he wasn't even more seriously injured. Prayers up for as full of a recovery as the guy can make from something like this. Hard to believe that Pierre-Paul still managed to play a long time in the NFL after his fireworks mishap. Maybe that's some consolation or hope to cling to for this guy.
