Coast Guard Searching For Person Who Went Overboard On Taylor Swift-Themed Cruise Near The Bahamas

Taylor Swift cruise

Terrible situation... The Coast Guard and two cruise ships searched the waters just off of Nassau, Bahamas overnight after somebody went overboard from a Taylor Swift-themed cruise on Royal Caribbean's Allure of the Seas. The cruise left Miami on Monday, and spent the day in Nassau today before leaving for Royal Caribbean's private island, Coco Cay. But after leaving Nassau, a man overboard call went out around 9 PM local time and the Coast Guard was dispatched from Miami to assist with the search. https://twitter.com/Voken_1/status/1848926755756638261 Several on the ship went live on TikTok to show the search, with a second Royal Caribbean ship, the Utopia of the Seas, turning around to assist. Coast Guard planes were flying over the area, and lifeboats were deployed from both ships to search the area, but high winds and rough seas are no doubt complicating the search. The cruise on Allure of the Seas is carrying a group of Taylor Swift fans, who organized the fan-led "In My Cruise Era" sailing and boarded after attending her Eras Tour show in Miami over the weekend. The cruise features several events for Swifties like friendship bracelet swaps, door decorating contests and Taylor Swift-themed karaoke and trivia.
The Coast Guard confirmed that a 66-year old woman fell overboard from the ship, though no explanation has been given for how it happened. Royal Caribbean issued a statement after the emergency: "Our crew immediately launched a search and rescue effort and is working with local authorities. We are also providing support and assistance to the guest's family during this difficult time. To respect the privacy of our guest’s family, we have no additional details to share."

As of Wednesday morning, the Allure of the Seas had left the area and continued its journey to Coco Cay, though the Coast Guard and the Royal Bahamas Defense Force were still searching the area. The cruise is set to return to Miami on Friday. Let's just pray that whoever went overboard can be found safely - despite the odds seeming to be stacked against them.
