Tell us how you really feel Mike Gundy.
From the head coach that brought you
"I've driven drunk before" comes another brilliant media showing. Oklahoma State Head Coach Mike Gundy has been
on one this season, and it's getting to the point where really any media availability that he has is appointment television. Or whatever you watch this kind of stuff on... social media I guess.
The Cowboys are 2-0 on the year after an exciting overtime win against Arkansas this past weekend. Oklahoma State needed everything and then some (overtime) to escape with a 39 to 31 shoot-out victory. After Gundy had a couple of days to digest the win and take a look at some film, he had time with the media and decided he wasn't going to beat around the bush about how his defense played.
One reporter by the name of Robert Allen was trying to suggest that the Cowboys secondary actually had good coverage, despite there being multiple times during the game where Arkansas receivers looked like they had all of the room in the world. The reporter was probably just trying to spin things into a positive light, but Gundy wasn't having it:
"Well, you’re a homer is the first part, because they were running wide open. You're wanting to make it look better, but honestly, they were running wide open."
Laughter filled the room, and Allen responded by saying, "I asked for it." Gundy made sure to let him know that what Allen did was okay, but that no one has to try and "fluff things up" when they are talking about what happened during the game:
"Well it's alright. We're honest here. There's no reason anybody should come to these press conferences if we're gonna bull sh*t each other. So the point being is that they were running wide open. The good news is that it's fixable."
Well said, Mr. Gundy. Well said.
