![Kurt Busch]()
You hate to see it.
Kurt Busch had his NASCAR career cut short after suffering a hard crash during qualifying at Pocono Raceway back in 2022. Busch suffered a concussion and ended up missing the rest of the season after not being medically cleared to return to racing. He left open the possibility of returning in 2023, but ultimately announced that he would be retiring for good and serving in an advisor role to his former team, 23XI Racing.
Busch had one of the more incredible personal transformations during his 22-year NASCAR Cup Series career, going from a villain to a fan favorite by the time he stepped away.
But unfortunately, it appears that the former Cup Series champion has found himself in hot water.
According to
Iredell Free News, Busch was arrested on Monday night in Mooresville, North Carolina after being pulled over for going 63 in a 45 mph zone. Once officers made contact with Busch, he allegedly "had red glassy eyes" and smelled of alcohol, admitting that he had been drinking before the traffic stop.
Court records reportedly show that Busch was found to have a .17 BAC, and that he was booked into the Iredell County Detention Center before being released around 2:30 AM on Tuesday morning.
His next court appearance in the case is scheduled for September 19, but until then the judge has ordered his drivers license revoked for 30 days.
It's not the first time Busch has been in trouble for drinking and driving: Back in 2005, he was pulled over in Maricopa County, Arizona on suspicion of DUI, and ultimately ordered to completed 50 hours of community service.
Busch released a statement on his latest arrest:
"I'm very disappointed in myself and I apologize to my family, my racing family, and to my fans. I will work with the authorities to rectify the situation and work with the county to make it a safer place in the future."
Hate to see it from a guy who managed to rehabilitate his public image so much throughout the course of his career.
