![Lady with urn]()
Age is just a number.
Though at some point, it certainly doesn't hurt to start planning for some of the not-so-fun, end-of-life things. Don't get me wrong, you shouldn't spend your youthful years worrying about all of that, but when father time starts knocking at the door, you can take on some of those difficult decisions yourself - as uncomfortable as it can be.
When it comes time for that, I'd advise you to handle things like Betty does in this now viral video below. She made something as morbid as picking out your own urn an enjoyable moment rather than a dreadful one. The 85-year-old and her friend Barb are known to make some entertaining TikToks, but this one without a doubt takes the cake.
Someone hands Betty her urn, which is decorated with a beach theme, and asks if she can explain what it is. Betty was happy to talk about her beautiful jar:
"I wanted to make sure that I spend eternity in something that I liked. So I bought my own urn. It's got palm trees and I'm proud of it. And I keep it in the kitchen. I don't want the kids to forget that I belong in here."
Oh my gosh...
The person that handed over the urn then asks if Betty has her daily cup of coffee and looks at the urn every morning, if she does in fact keep it in the kitchen. The old woman proceeded to drop one of the hardest quotes of all time in her response:
"Oh yeah, cause I yearn for the urn. Well I'm 85, pushing 86 hard. I can't see. I can't hear. I can't walk. I can't do anything. So the urn sounds like a good alternative. It's (beautiful). It is, and I picked it out as mine."
Here's to hoping that we can all be as enthusiastic and optimistic in old age as Betty (and her friend Barb I supposed). Please enjoy watching the TikTok below, and go ahead and give her a follow if you enjoyed the "yearn for the urn" quote. There's plenty more where that came from on her account, but this video that's been viewed almost 27 million times is certainly her most popular:
