![Mahomes]()
Is everyone just jealous or what? Patrick Mahomes is the best quarterback on the planet. Zero debate. It's the most valuable position in sports. He just led the Kansas City Chiefs to two straight Super Bowls wins. What am I missing?
I really do think this is a mass troll job by the NFL players who voted for these Top 100 player rankings, and a gross oversight by NFL Network not vetoing the votes, or skewing them in some way to make Mahomes the consensus No. 1.

Other than Travis Kelce, Mahomes did not have a second pass-catcher who was keeping defensive coordinators up at night. I get that Kansas City's defense is excellent, but come on. For as much as we aggrandize QB achievements depending on the narrative we're trying to spin, how and why are Mahomes' contemporaries belittling
his myriad accomplishments?
It's not like the rest of the dudes to be ranked in the top 100 are scrubs. This is beyond disrespectful, though. WTF are NFL players thinking? You
really want to piss off Mahomes and the Chiefs more? Kelce was screaming after the Super Bowl
before this one that nobody believed in his team. The competitive fire in that locker room shouldn't be overlooked. Who sets the tone for all that? Andy Reid. Mahomes. And Chris Jones, too, but you know what I mean.
If not for what could be the greatest offensive coach-QB tandem of all-time, Kansas City isn't winning at this historic clip. The team of course came out to support their face of the franchise.

So put aside Tyreek Hill (
the No. 1 player in more ways than one!) and No. 3 Christian McCaffrey. They're great skill players but I can't entertain either of them as the highest-ranked since they don't touch the ball every single play. We've been building to the fact that Lamar Jackson is ranked ahead of Mahomes! And is the No. 2 player in the league!
Yeah. Lamar. He who lost the AFC Championship Game 17-10
at HOME in a head-to-head duel with Mahomes. The two-time regular-season MVP who keeps coming up small in the playoffs. How did Lamar outclass Mahomes, also a twice regular-season MVP
and three-time
Super Bowl MVP in an overly glorified player poll?

At least the
Madden ratings got Mahomes' spot right among QBs. I'm sure they have him as the best overall player in the game over all the other 99 Club members.

Nick Wright's take on the Mahomes snub/Chiefs-related incident was as per usual pretty spot on. He even invoked my beloved Bengals, and alluded to how Ja'Marr Chase
admitted his pettiness.

As far as I'm concerned, Mahomes being the best player in the NFL is not so much an opinion as it is a fact. Everyone else is playing for second when it comes to ranking the other QBs. My guy Joe Burrow is
my No. 2, but I understand the arguments for Josh Allen and, admittedly to a lesser degree, for Lamar.
Anyway, good luck stopping the Chiefs this year, rest of league. The Raiders were already stupid enough to play with a
Mahomes-themed Kermit the Frog doll at their training camp. Can't wait to see how much of a chip this is going to add to Mahomes' shoulder. It'd only be fitting if he messed around, pulled off the first three-peat ever, and added his
fourth Super Bowl win during a year where his peers ranked him No. 4.
This whole Top 100 thing only puts more pressure on Lamar to deliver a — to emphasize, article "a" singular, as in
one — Lombardi Trophy
. Good luck with that, friend-o!
