![Marvin Harrison Jr]()
You've gotta keep your head on a swivel as an NFL player - even when you're off the field.
Rookie wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. is learning that before he even plays in an official NFL game. While he was interviewing before the NFL Draft, the former Ohio State wide out was put to the test while watching film with the New York Giants.
In what was likely a test that the New York team put all of their prospective rookies through, the Giants wide receiver coach Mike Groh attempted to trick Harrison Jr. into speaking ill of his former teammate and quarterback Kyle McCord. While watching footage of the young QB throwing a bad pass to Marvin, the WR coach posed this question:
"Obviously you played with one of the best quarterbacks for a few years. How about you got a young guy (Kyle McCord), he's growing in the position. You beat a guy like this, have a chance for a touchdown and he under throws it. What do you come back to the huddle saying?"
That's what you call "setting the trap."
Marvin Harrison Jr. recognized that though, and answered in a very mature fashion with:
"I don't say nothing to quarterbacks."
Textbook answer right there. That is how you respond to a question that looks to set you up to rip someone else down. However, the Giants coach didn't just let it slide. Groh tried one more time to get Marvin Harrison Jr. to take the bait:
"I mean... that's a sh*t throw right?"
Again, the rookie wide receiver kept a level head and answered like a seasoned veteran in the league:
"I could make a play. I could make the play still. I will never say anything to the quarterback. I always blame it on myself as not being able to make a play."
Wise beyond his years... the Arizona Cardinals - who ended up selecting the dynamic playmaker - have a good one in Marvin Harrison Jr., as if there was any doubt about that. This just goes to show that he's got a great grasp on what it means to be a team player, which in some cases is just as valuable as being able to catch footballs like a mad man.

It's honestly
wild that NFL teams are trying to trick young men like that, but I guess they are just really trying to find out what kind of people they are sitting across from.
And just in case you had a couple of minutes to kill, you can go ahead and cue up this electric highlight reel from Harrison Jr's college days. I can't wait to watch him make an immediate impact in Arizona:
