Alex Bowman Says He’s Going To Drink So Much Bourbon He’ll “Probably Wake Up Naked On The Bathroom Floor Again” After Winning NASCAR Cup Series Race In Chicago

Umm, again? Alex Bowman scored a BIG win in the NASCAR Cup Series race on the Chicago street course, breaking an 80-race winless street for the #48 team and locking himself into the 2024 playoffs. It's been a rough stretch for Bowman and his Hendrick Motorsports team, after Bowman ended up missing three races last year from a back injury he suffered during a sprint car race. Since then, Bowman has been searching for that elusive trip to victory lane, and was sitting on the playoff bubble with just seven races left to make it into the postseason entering today's race. But thanks to some tire strategy, the #48 team brought home an emotional win, despite being involved in an accident with Bubba Wallace earlier in the race that left the driver of the #23 car angry at Bowman. Crew chief Blake Harris decided to keep Bowman on wet weather tires, even as other teams decided to switch to the slick, dry weather tires to try to find more speed. It ended up being the winning move, and one that will no doubt help the #48 team gain some momentum at a time when his three teammates have seemed to be firing on all cylinders and outperforming Bowman. And for the driver, it sounds like Bowman has quite a night of celebrating ahead of him.
