Tough look here for the court system in Saginaw County, Michigan.
A man named Corey Harris went viral recently for checking into a Zoom court session while driving. Problem/irony/hilarity was, the hearing was to do with Harris' suspended driver's license.
But here's the thing: Harris was meant to get his license suspension lifted all the way back in 2022, as reported by WXYZ ABC Detroit. A bureaucratic blunder of sorts is to blame for Harris not getting his license back when he should've, in which case his 15 minutes of fame never would've happened.

Oof. You gotta feel for Harris, who was made out to be then village idiot of all village idiots when in reality, he should've been legally allowed to drive long ago. He called the whole saga "very embarrassing," and implored anyone in a similar situation to be diligent about following up.
"Always double-check behind these workers, because they will say that they will do something and they don't do it."

So I assume Harris got the OK that he was in the clear with a reinstated driver's license at some point, double-checked, only to be betrayed by the person who was responsible for merely filing the paperwork. What else can you say other than that just straight-up sucks?
The only real consolation to all this is that Harris got to clear his name and resolve a long-standing issue. What a 180, though. To go from universally mocked to universally empathized with is no small feat in this modern news cycle, where you're immediately judged in the court of public opinion. I was guilty of laughing at the man, too, because it really did seem like some of the most ignorant behavior in the annals of humanity.
Thank goodness Mr. Harris did, in fact, have way more self-awareness and general common sense than he was given credit for. Any piece of news that restores a sliver of faith in the human species is a massive win in the end.
