The only reason so many people know Chennedy Carter's name as of Saturday is because she
cheap shot the hell out of Caitlin Clark, much to the delight of her Chicago Sky teammate/Clark archnemesis Angel Reese.

Never mind that Clark's Indiana Fever squad won the actual game 71-70 to improve to 2-8 on the season. It's not so much the bottom-line result on the court that matters as it is how lacking in self-awareness Carter and her teammates are.

Miss me with the men vs. women "DOUBLE STANDARDS" argument, because
I will flame Draymond Green to no end as long as he's in the NBA. If Draymond wasn't a four-time champion, he'd be barred from playing basketball. Even now I think he's done enough damage to warrant a forced retirement. But whatever. That's neither here nor there.
Was Charles Barkley wrong when he said women around the WNBA are
petty towards Caitlin Clark? Not in the slightest.

Sir Charles' take is aging like fine wine in real time. Chennedy Carter is the latest example of an ingrate who either doesn't realize, doesn't appreciate, or doesn't want to acknowledge the reality that Clark is a singular catalyst who's brought heretofore unseen to women's basketball. Clark just came off her second straight NCAA runner-up run at Iowa; weeks later was drafted first overall into the WNBA, and is being tasked with carrying the worst team in the league while adjusting to the pro game on the fly.
And what a surprise (*narrator: It wasn't a surprise) that Carter is comporting herself in
this fashion on social media:

Scumbag behavior. Carter might want to get off the Bird app for a while. It's getting ugly out here for her.

Special shout out to my guy, ESPN Cincinnati Bengals reporter Ben Baby, for coming from the top rope to shed more light on how Carter has underachieved as a player.

I can't help but think back to what
UConn coach Dan Hurley said prior to the Huskies going on their recent tear of back-to-back national titles.

First of all, it's better that all this nonsense and jealous projection is happening now, with Clark just beginning her pro career, as opposed to later down the line. We've moved past, "Welcome to the WNBA" moments to the point where it's just a series of hard, unnecessary fouls. Maybe the WNBA should, you know, protect their most prized asset and start handing out fines. It's not like the Fever aren't bringing the anti-Clark antics to the league office's attention.

What I'm really getting at re: that Hurley clip, though, is that opponents better get their cheap shots in on Clark now. Pretty soon, in all likelihood, she's going to be dominating the league, and transforming the Fever from league cellar dweller to consistent championship contender.
All Carter and those of her ilk are doing is pissing Clark off. Fueling the motivational fire. Bring it on, I say. If Clark can channel that energy the right way to play with a healthy chip on her shoulder,
really look out.
