You know they had to go there.
Legendary former New England Patriots coach and current coach of the University of North Carolina, Bill Belichick, has found himself in the headlines a lot recently for his relationship with much younger former cheerleader Jordon Hudson.
The two found themselves at the center of controversy recently after an awkward interview with the coach on CBS Sunday Morning, when Hudson interrupted to shut down a question on how the two first met. (They’ve previously said that they met on a flight and that he signed her college textbook).
After the interview, UNC released a statement claiming defending Hudson, claiming that the interview was supposed to focus only on Belichick’s upcoming book. But CBS pushed back, claiming that they hadn’t agreed on any conditions for their conversation with Belichick. And it was also reported that Hudson was the only person who accompanied Belichick to the interview: Nobody from his publisher, no PR team, nobody from UNC, just his girlfriend.
Last week it was reported that Hudson had been banned from the UNC football facilities, after having previously been spotted helping out on the field during practice. But the university once again released a statement defending the coach’s girlfriend and denying the reports that she was no longer welcome around the program.
So yeah, long story short, it’s a mess.
And of course the couple have been the butt of plenty of jokes since going public with their relationship, including in New Orleans earlier this year at the NFL Honors ceremony when host Snoop Dogg made a joke about the age gap with the couple in attendance:
“I’ve been a football fan for a long, long time. I mean, I remember back when the Cowboys was good. I remember when the Chiefs was bad. And I remember, what was it, Bill Belichick’s girlfriend wasn’t even born yet.”
Hudson was a constant fixture beside Belichick’s side while they were in the Big Easy for the game, including one time when they were spotted out together while Hudson was sporting a shirt making fun of the Atlanta Falcons.
The Falcons, of course, were the Patriots’ opponent in Super Bowl LI back in 2017, when they famously blew a 28-3 lead to lose to Belichick’s squad in overtime. And Hudson took a shot at the Dirty Birds by strolling around New Orleans wearing an Atlanta Falcons Super Bowl champions t-shirt – a shirt that they ultimately never got to use after blowing the game.
And Hudson again broke out the shirt for an Instagram photo on March 28th. (Get it? 3-28)
Honestly, as a Saints fan, I kinda appreciate the trolling of our rival Falcons. It’s almost enough to make me support her regardless of all the other stuff.
But the Falcons apparently took notice of the jabs too, and when they released their 2025 schedule yesterday, included a not-so-subtle shot at Belichick and Hudson in the video.
For their schedule release, the Falcons went with a Mario Kart themed video – and about a minute into the video, the car stops beside an animated version of couple on the beach with a sign that says “We’re not talking about this,” echoing Hudson’s line from the ill-fated CBS interview.
And look, I hate to give the Falcons credit for anything. It’s just not in my DNA. But that’s pretty funny.
