Kansas City Chiefs Superfan “Chiefsaholic” Sentenced To 32 Years In Prison

The hammer of justice continues to fall heavy on the “ChiefsAholic.

The story of Xavier Babudar, who is more popularly known as “ChiefsAholic,” is wild to say the least. He once was known as the Kansas City Chiefs biggest, most die-hard fan. Now, Babudar is known for being a a bank robber and a money launderer. There’s even a documentary about his double life as a super fan/bank robber.

How did he get caught? “ChiefsAholic” was a serial bank robber, and only robbed banks when the Chiefs were playing away games. That’s literally how he became a suspect, and how he was eventually charged and arrested.

In February of 2024, Xavier Babudar pled guilty to his crimes and faced up to 50 years in prison for his violent bank robbing spree. He ended up being sentenced to 17 1/2 years, even though his lawyer put up some media availability for the ages right after his client pled guilty.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t point you towards some statements Babudar’s lawyer gave on behalf of his client after the guilty plea, just in case you missed it. The lawyer stuck with the football-super-fan theme, and related “Chiefaholic’s” arrest to handling pocket pressure as an NFL quarterback:

“From the beginning of this case folks, the government has been blitzing, and Xavier’s pocket was collapsing. But today, Xavier stepped into the pressure. He took responsibility for his actions. He stood up in court humble and repentant, and admitted what he had done.

Now if I know anything about Xavier, and if the Chiefs Kingdom knows anything about ChiefsAholic, we know that he doesn’t give up. We know that if he stumbled, and he fell, he didn’t let his knee touch the ground.

That’s because he’s capable of doing a great thing. And he knows that there’s still hope. We still have a lot of work to do on his case, but Xavier wants everyone to know that he loves the Chiefs Kingdom, he loves Kansas City, and he hopes that you’ll rally to his support.”

Hilarious. I know it’s a little old at this point, but that video right there is pure comedy.

That being said, the latest update about “ChiefsAholic” is no laughing matter. The Kansas City Chiefs super fan, who is 30-years-old, was sentenced to 32 years in prison in an Oklahoma courtroom on Monday. This comes after he pled guilty once again to robbery with a firearm and assault back in March. It’s a concurrent sentence, which means that he’ll be forced to face a 14 1/2 year sentence after he completes his 17 1/2 year federal sentence.

Steve Kunzweiler, the Tulsa County District Attorney, wanted Babudar to spend the rest of his life in prison. So he was understandably upset that “ChiefsAholic”  was only given an additional 14 1/2 years on his sentence:

“It was offensive to me that a serial robber could victimize as many hardworking Americans as this guy did all across the country and only receive 17½ years from the federal government.

My preference was for him to serve the rest of his life in prison. He caught another break today, but at least he’s going to be serving some additional time, and my thoughts are with the victims who continue to be tormented by his violence.”

Somehow, the Kansas City Chiefs will still have their dynasty running and competing for Super Bowls when Xavier Babudar completes his 32-year sentence.
