Chipper Jones REALLY Hates Joey Logano, Goes Off On The NASCAR Driver After Talladega

Of course if you walk through the stands at a NASCAR race you’ll find plenty of fans who hate Joey Logano. The driver of the #22 car for Team Penske has won three Cup Series championships during his 17 seasons in the sport, but he’s also drawn plenty of criticism for being able to dish it out on the racetrack but not take it. (Or as folks like to put it on social media, he’s a whiny bitch).

One of the best examples is his infamous feud with Matt Kenseth back in 2015. During the Kansas race that year, Logano had taken out Kenseth while racing for the lead at Kansas. So later in the season, Kenseth saw the opportunity to repay the favor during a race at Martinsville while Logano was trying to secure his spot in the final round of the championship.

The usually mild-mannered Kenseth, who had been involved in an incident earlier in the race and was out of contention for the win, waited on leader Joey Logano to come around, and then dumped him into the wall, ending his shot at the win and ultimately keeping Logano from racing for the championship a few weeks later.

And the crowd absolutely loved it:

So yeah, plenty of Joey Logano haters in the stands.

And one of those, apparently, is legendary Atlanta Braves third baseman Chipper Jones.

Logano’s teammate Austin Cindric won the Jack Link’s 500 yesterday at Talladega Superspeedway, holding off Ryan Preece on the final lap for his third Cup Series win. But earlier in the race, the NASCAR on FOX broadcast had aired some of Joey’s in-car audio showing that Logano wasn’t too happy with his teammate at the end of stage 2.

With three laps to go in the stage, Logano was leading the race, with Bubba Wallace and Cindric behind him in the top line. But Logano moved to the bottom lane, leaving Wallace and Cindric on the outside, and with Cindric trying to move forward himself, he had no choice but to push Wallace to the lead.

After Wallace won the stage, Logano wasn’t happy that his teammate had pushed another manufacturer’s car around him for the stage win:

“Way to go Austin. Way to go you dumb fuck. Way to fucking go. What a stupid shit. He just gave it to him. Gave a Toyota a stage win. Nice job. Way to go. What a dumbass. Put that in the book again. He can put that in his freakin’ notes and text it to us.”

Now, I’m not really sure what Logano wanted his teammate to do in that situation. He couldn’t get down behind Joey in the bottom lane, and if he had jumped out of line on the top to try to go around Bubba he would have been passed by the entire field and lost his own stage points. Cindric could either be content to finish at least third, or he could try to go for the stage win by pushing Bubba to the lead and then trying to get a run on him once he was out front. I guess Joey’s mad that Austin didn’t just let him have the stage win instead of trying to go for it himself?

Well obviously Cindric got the last laugh by winning the race, and to add insult to injury, Logano’s car was disqualified after post-race inspection for missing a bolt in his rear spoiler.

And Chipper Jones was loving it.

The retired Atlanta Braves player took to social media with some harsh words for Logano:

“Congrats to Austin Cindric on his Talladega win. Good teammates are hard to come by, Boss! Remember that one of urs MFed u on national tv, when in all actuality, u did everything possible to keep from wrecking him. Hate to be deuces in the ‘team’ meeting on Monday. Some people are ‘hooray for our team as long as I’m the star’ as every team has them. Hendrick, RCR, JGR, Penske, etc. Sometimes karma is glorious. Enjoy this one! In case anyone is confused, lemme be clear….Joey Logano.”

And he also called out Logano for not even congratulating his teammate during his post-race interview:

But Jones was pretty happy when Logano was DQ’d after the race:

His tweets even got the attention of Dale Earnhardt Jr, who’s friends with the retired baseball player and has had Chipper on his Dale Jr Download podcast:
