Paramount+ Announces Season Two Of ‘1923’ Will End With Two-Hour Finale

Fans of Taylor Sheridan’s 1923 better buckle up – and find a comfortable spot on the couch – for the show’s season (and likely series) finale.

From what we know, 1923 is currently airing its second and final season. Depending on who you ask, 1923 only running for two seasons can be seen as both a good thing and a bad thing. For one, Taylor Sheridan isn’t trying to stretch out the story any longer than he has to… which is ironic, because one of the chief complaint’s from Season 2 thus far is that it’s moved at a snail’s pace.

And though the show’s second act has been a slog (in the opinion of some), it’s already managed to reach it’s final episode. Paramount+ is set to air a two-hour long finale on Sunday, April 6. The finale will double the regular runtime of typical episode of 1923, which further supports that this might be “all she wrote” with the Sheridan’s prequel series.

The show – which stars Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford along with impressive supporting actors and actresses like Brandon Sklenar, Jerome Flynn, Darren Mann, Brian Geraghty, Aminah Nieves, and Michelle Randolph, among others – aired its penultimate episode (titled “The Mountain Teeth of Monsters”) last week. I’ll avoid any spoilers in case anyone is still trying to catch up, but I will say that it was drama-packed episode… and blood was spilled.

Is blood being spilled a spoiler for any Taylor Sheridan show, really? Seems like that’s what fans have come to expect week in and week out.

And the finale episode of season two is titled “A Dream and a Memory,” which makes it seem like it could stick the landing (hopefully) in a number of different ways. The only information we currently have on the episode comes in the form of the final episode’s description, which was released along with the finale’s run time:

“Jacob (Harrison Ford) and his crew eagerly await Spencer’s (Brandon Sklenar) return at the train station. Teonna (Aminah Nieves) has a fateful run in. Alexandra (Schlaepfer) braves the cold.”

Taylor Sheridan is set to direct the finale episode of season/series finale, just as he did with the flagship Yellowstone series. The reviews with how the main show ended were mixed, to say the least, so it’ll be interesting to see if Sheridan takes the fan response from Yellowstone’s ending into account and really tries to satisfyingly land 1923.

But at the end of the day, 1923 has been a tremendous success… just as the other Yellowstone spinoffs have been. 17 million viewers across the globe tuned into 1923’s Season 2 premiere, and despite some fans calling for the show to speed things up at time, the second season is on pace to beat out the first season’s viewership by over 50%.

And all roads have led to the Season 2 finale, which is set to air in just a couple of days now. Like I said earlier, fans should prepare to really settle in for the two-hour-long event, and if you want a sneak peek of what’s to come, you can press play on the video below:

If you don’t have Paramount+ yet, grab a 7 day free trial and get to streaming. Along with so many Taylor Sheridan shows, they’ve got live sports and movies, truly something for everyone.
