Gonna have to stay home from school to watch this one.
If you’re like me, you grew up watching Maury Povich on days that you didn’t have to go to school. I’m not sure what that says about my parents, but nothing was better than watching Maury reveal the results of paternity tests to dysfunctional families and deadbeat dads.
Those were the days.
Maury unfortunately decided to hang it up back in 2022, but the 86-year old former talk show host is apparently willing to come out of retirement for one last paternity test.
If you’re not familiar with the drama surrounding Elon Musk and his 14th child, it all started a couple months ago when 26-year old conservative influencer Ashley St. Clair made the shocking announcement that she had given birth, and that the billionaire Tesla founder was the father.
Musk has 13 other children with three other women, but the situation got messy when St. Clair publicly declared yesterday that she was selling her Tesla that Elon had given her to “make up for the 60% cut that Elon made to our son’s child support.”
Now, it’s a little convenient that there just happened to be a camera there for the transaction, but who am I to judge a new mother or speculate on her motives. But Elon apparently didn’t agree with her characterization of the issue, and took to X (which he of course owns) to present his side of the story:
“I don’t know if the child is mine or not, but am not against finding out. No court order is needed. Despite not knowing for sure, I have given Ashley $2.5M and am sending her $500k/year.”
Like I said, I’m not one to judge somebody else’s parenting, because I’m not a parent myself, but it seems like $3 million is a pretty good chunk of change. I was an attorney in a former life (well, I guess I still am) and I’ve handled a few custody cases, but I’ve never seen somebody get half a million a year in child support. Hell, I’ve seen parents argue over $50 a month in child support. Seems like $500k would be enough to afford to keep your car, but again, no judgment here.
St. Clair responded to Elon’s claim that he didn’t know if the child was his or not, alleging that he had refused to confirm his paternity in the past but had even been the one who picked out the child’s name.
Elon, we asked you to confirm paternity through a test before our child (who you named) was even born. You refused.
And you weren’t sending *me* money, you were sending support for your child that you thought was necessary… until you withdrew most of it to maintain control and…

What a mess. Luckily, there’s one person who could clear it all up – and he’s apparently willing to do just that.
Maury reposted Elon’s tweet, asking if he wanted to settle the paternity issue once and for all:

What an incredible time to be alive. You have the richest men in the world, who’s currently a high-level government official, arguing over paternity on a platform he owns, and the former host of a trashy daytime talk show offering to come out of retirement for a (hopefully) televised paternity test.
Let’s make it happen, Elon.
