Busted… again.
Lily Stewart, a University of Georgia sorority girl, went viral recently when she was arrested outside of Athens earlier this month for speeding.. on her way to a darty (of course).
According to TMZ, Lily was reportedly doing about 79 in a 55 MPH zone, and she was given a speeding ticket and let go. Then, she was later spotted by the SAME officer just minutes later doing 84 in 55, and earned herself a one-way ride to the Morgan County Jail in the a Georgia State Police car, and was subsequently booked for speeding in excess of maximum limits, which is a misdemeanor in the Peach State.
The charges were pretty quickly dropped but she’ll still have to perform community service and take a “defensive driving class.”
When asked why she smiled, she told People that it was just a natural reaction to the camera:
“Everyone’s been asking me, ‘Why’d you smile, why’d you smile?’ I just smile. It was just like an instinct. There were cameras up there. I popped my smile and turned to the side.”
And despite her 15 minutes of fame, she added that things should go back to normal pretty soon:
“I like school. I like college life. I’m a real people person. Honestly, I don’t really think this will change my life. Next week, it’ll be someone else having their moment, making their own headlines.
One day, I’m going to go on The Bachelor, so maybe expect me then. … If it’s a good-looking guy, obviously.”
Well… one way to keep your face in the news is to keep getting arrested, and that’s exactly what Lily did. According to local police, she was arrested on charges of obstruction of a law enforcement officer and loitering. Quite petty crimes that you’d probably never get arrested for outside of a college campus.
Nevertheless… she’s still smiling…
