Sometimes the headlines write themselves.
This time of the year is supposed to be reserved for college basketball’s March Madness. However, the Georgia Bulldogs football team has their own kind of madness that they’re dealing with. In fact, they’ve been navigating the choppy waters of… having dozens of players get arrested for reckless driving.
According to the Atlanta-Journal Constitution, the University of Georgia football team has had 24 players arrested for driving related incidents since January of 2023. That’s astounding. A couple of players getting arrested while behind the wheel? Bad look, but could be drawn up as accidental. 24 players? In less than two years? That’s what you call a real problem.
And just last night, that number increased to 25 players. Ironically enough, the 25th member of the Bulldogs football team to be arrested for behind the wheel antics is named Nitro Tuggle. The Athens Clarke County Jail reported that the wide receiver was speeding at “maximum limits” and was arrested for speeding and reckless driving at 2 a.m. ET this morning.
As the old saying goes, nothing good happens at two in the morning:
BREAKING: Georgia wide receiver Nitro Tuggle has been ARRESTED on charges of Reckless Driving and Speeding in Athens.
Since January 2023, at least 25 UGA players have faced arrests related to speeding, DUI, or reckless driving.

Tuggle is entering into his sophomore year with the Georgia Bulldogs after appearing in six games as a freshman.
At this point, I don’t understand why the Georgia Bulldogs coaching staff can’t hammer safe driving into their player’s heads. Class in the morning and practice in the afternoon? They’ve got to work a “driver safety course” somewhere in there. And it’s not even that complicated… head coach Kirby Smart could just start breaking down every huddle with “drive safe and slow on 3.”
And because this issues with Georgia has come up over and over (and over and over) again, college football fans aren’t extending much empathy. If you were to type in “Georgia Bulldogs” on social media, or dive into the reply section of this post, you’ll see a lot jokes and even more judging of Kirby Smart’s team:
