Finding a younger girlfriend so he has somebody to run his social media? Not a terrible strategy, actually…
Bill Belichick seems to be in the headlines a lot lately, even though he hasn’t coached a football game in over a year. The legendary former coach of the New England Patriots was hired last year as the new coach of the UNC Tar Heels, his first college coaching job of his career.
But that’s not the only way the 72-year old coach is getting younger. He’s also gotten a lot of attention in recent months for his new romantic interest, his 24-year old girlfriend and former cheerleader Jordon Hudson.
If you’re bad at math, that means Belichick is 48 years older than his new romantic partner. (Just for context, Belichick became head coach of the Patriots in 2000 – the year Hudson was born).
The couple reportedly met on a flight in 2021 where they exchanged information and kept in contact by discussing things like her school work and cheerleading routines. (Wouldn’t you love to hear Bill Belichick talking to a 20-something year old about cheerleading? That had to have been an incredible conversation).
Needless to say, their relationship has been the subject of plenty of jokes, especially when he decided he was going to join the college coaching ranks…

And as it turns out, Hudson isn’t just Belichick’s girlfriend: Apparently he’s already put her to work for the team.
According to emails first posted by Matt Hartman of The Assembly, Belichick has asked staffers to copy Hudson on all emails sent to him, at least emails related to marketing and social media that Hudson has reportedly been helping with.
“I am including Jordon on this email so she can keep up with our postings. Can you include her on anything you send to me?”

Of course pretty much everybody online had the same reaction: Surely hiring your girlfriend who’s young enough to be your granddaughter won’t end poorly for UNC.

Like many others have said, this is either going to be a total trainwreck or UNC is winning the national championship this year. There’s really no in between here. But damn is it going to be fun to watch it all play out.
It seems that jokes about his relationship are going to follow Belichick wherever he goes at this point – including last month during the NFL Honors ceremony.

And once the ceremony got started, even the evening’s host, Snoop Dogg, couldn’t help but take a not-so-subtle jab at the couple’s age gap during his opening monologue:
“I’ve been a football fan for a long, long time. I mean, I remember back when the Cowboys was good. I remember when the Chiefs was bad. And I remember, what was it, Bill Belichick’s girlfriend wasn’t even born yet.”

Got ’em good.
Hudson was clearly shocked by the joke, and Belichick mustered up a slight grin, which is pretty much all you’ll ever get out of him anyway. But looking at some of the others in the crowd, you could tell that Snoop was just saying exactly what everybody else was thinking.
