Man, Caitlin Clark has really broken a lot of people's brains.
For years, we've heard about how unfair it was that WNBA players aren't paid the same as NBA players, that they don't get the same benefits, that they have to fly commercial instead of getting charter flights to their games...
Well former University of Iowa star and current rookie for the Indiana Fever Caitlin Clark has managed to bring a lot of change to the league in the month or so since she was drafted with the #1 lottery pick.
After complaints about having to fly commercial, the league finally began allowing teams to charter private flights to away games. And Clark has brought in an insane amount of sponsorship dollars to the league - not just her own, but the increase in viewership that she draws has raised the market for all players.
Sounds like a good thing, right?
Well for some reason it seems that the same people who were complaining about how unfair it was for WNBA players are now hell-bent on tearing down Caitlin Clark at every turn, despite all that she's done for the league already.
During a conversation on
The View yesterday (I know, go ahead and roll your eyes), co-host Sunny Hostin said that Clark's popularity was only due to the fact that she's attractive, white, and straight.
"I do think there is a thing called pretty privilege. There is a thing called white privilege. There is a thing called tall privilege. And we have to acknowledge that.
And so part of it is about race. Because if you think about the Brittney Griners of the world, why did she have to go to play in Russia because they wouldn't pay her?
So now Caitlin Clark is bringing this money, these sponsorships, we hope, into the league, and other players will benefit from it.
But I do think that she is more relatable to more people because she's white, because she's attractive. And unfortunately there still is that stigma against the LGBTQ+ community."
Weird way to say "thank you," but ok...
And Hostin was promptly roasted on the internet for tearing down one of the game's biggest stars after so many people spent years complaining that nobody cared about the WNBA:

Not really surprising to see this kind of crap coming from
The View.
