Jason Kelce Goes Viral For Attending Local Zoning Hearing Like A Regular Dad

Jason Kelce continues to prove that he’s a man of the people.

Though they live rather luxurious lifestyles, or at least can afford to, some celebrities try to be regular people as much as they can. Although, it can be hard for celebrities and athletes to carry about their day-to-day. Most people want to be famous, and just assume that it’s all glitz and glamor with no downsides. But imagine not being able to walk outside your door without being met with a flurry of cameras and questions.

It was actor and comedian Jim Carrey that once said, “I think everybody should get rich and famous and do everything they ever dreamed of so they can see that it’s not the answer.”

All that to say that it’s really cool to see well-known people attempting to lead somewhat of a normal life, like former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce. His career in the NFL is certainly hall of fame worthy, and Kelce’s post-football media career has really taken off as of late. ESPN gave him his own late night show, the Kelce brother was included on the Monday Night Football broadcast, and obviously, Jason and Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast is rather popular.

Despite all of the success, when it came time for Jason Kelce to attend a community meeting to ask for permission to put up a better privacy fence, the former football star stood in front of the Zoning Hearing Board himself. He could have sent a representative on his behalf, but Kelce decided to go talk to the board in person about adding some improvements, building another home on the premises (which would bring the total to four), and adding safety precautions in the form of a fence to his property.

The local news broadcasted the meeting and included Kelce’s address, which seems like it kind of defeats the purpose of requesting more privacy. This TikTok user that posted the clip – which has now gone viral – made sure to omit that portion to hopefully help out the Kelce family (although the local news story sure didn’t).

And for some reason, social media users loved seeing Jason Kelce doing the mundane task of pleading to his local Zoning Hearing Board:

I’ve got to admit… that’s pretty cool that Kelce took care of that himself.

That being said, he’s just doing what everyone else would have to do if they wanted to make a similar improvement to their home. However, it’s still cool to see that he didn’t feel like he was above attending the hearing, and also wasn’t looking for any sort of special treatment.

Jason Kelce’s proposal was approved by the board, though he did have to agree to implement storm water management in the plans to make sure flooding didn’t become an issue for some nearby neighbors…
