There’s not much that this country can agree on these days, but I think it’s fair to say that Casey Anthony is one of the most universally hated people in America.
Anthony was charged with murder in the death of her 3-year old daughter, Caylee Anthony, back in 2008. The child was originally reported missing by Casey’s mother after not seeing her for a month, with the grandmother reporting that Casey had given various explanations for where Caylee was. She finally admitted to her mother that she hadn’t seen her daughter for weeks, and later called police to report that Caylee had been kidnapped by a nanny.
The toddler’s body was eventually found inside a bag in the woods near the Anthony home, and at Casey’s trial prosecutors presented evidence of someone using her computer to search for “chloroform.” Investigators also testified that cadaver dogs detected human decomposition in Casey’s car, and experts testified that Caylee’s hair as well as air sampling evidence of decomposition and chloroform were found in the trunk of the car.
Despite widespread belief that she was responsible for her daughter’s death, and despite her changing story about Caylee’s whereabouts during the time she was missing, Casey was ultimately acquitted on the charges related to Caylee’s death and was convicted only of providing false information to law enforcement.
She was sentenced to time served, and to this day nobody has been held responsible for the child’s death.
Since the trial, Casey has kept a relatively low profile – but the country hasn’t exactly forgotten about her, and many still believe that she was responsible for her daughter’s death despite being found not guilty. So as you can imagine, people weren’t thrilled when the accused killer mom decided to join TikTok recently.
In a video posted to her new account over the weekend, Anthony said she was starting a “series” as a “legal advocate” and “researcher,” who claims she has been in the legal field since 2011 – which is when she was on trial for her daughter’s murder. Not sure I would call being a defendant in a murder trial being in the “legal field” but I guess that’s one way to describe it…
Anthony continues that she feels that if she wants to continue in her role as a “legal advocate” she needs to start advocating for herself…and her daughter.
“For those of you who don’t know, my name is Casey Anthony. My daughter is Caylee Anthony.”
She also says that she may respond at some point to some of the things her parents, George and Cindy Anthony, have said about her since the murder.

Casey has been estranged from her parents since the trial, with Cindy Anthony participating in a 2022 documentary about the case and questioning claims from her daughter’s defense team at trial that Caylee had drowned in a pool:
“What the eff was she thinking? Why the heck didn’t she tell us? Why didn’t she call somebody. None of this would’ve happened. And it’s like, oh my gosh, she put us through hell. I know if I had found Caylee drowned in the pool, I would’ve been devastated and blamed myself for the rest of my life.”
Casey has also accused her father of sexual assault, which the parents denied during a 2024 interview while they were hooked up to a lie detector test.
As you can imagine, the reaction to Casey Anthony joining TikTok hasn’t exactly been a warm reception. She immediately turned off comments (smart) and plenty of people are infuriated that she mentioned her daughter and called herself a “legal advocate.”

It’s the same reception that she got last year when it was reported that she had moved to Murfreesboro, Tennessee, a suburb just outside of Nashville.
At the time, the 38-year old “tot mom” was dating 48-year old married father of 2 Tyson Ray Rhodes. Anthony and Rhodes had reportedly met at a gym in Florida before moving to Murfreesboro – and the community wasn’t happy about it.
Anthony and Rhodes reportedly ended their relationship a couple of months ago, and there’s no word on whether she’s still living in Tennessee or if she moved back to Florida. But maybe we’ll get that answer in episode 2 of her new TikTok series…
