Two Episodes Into Season 2 & 1923 Fans Are Getting VERY Impatient: “Worst Episode Of The Series By Far”

I mean, we all knew this was coming… right?

I spend a ton of time blogging about country music, culture, entertainment, hunting and fishing and more, and sometimes I don’t quite realize that the average person probably doesn’t spend nearly as much time on the internet as me. Even loyal fans of Taylor Sheridan, Yellowstone and the prequels like 1883 and 1923, aren’t spending their free time digging in to what’s going to happen in the show. And then they tune in and get disappointed when the expectations aren’t met.

Season 2 of the 2nd Yellowstone prequel series officially debuted on Paramount+, and pretty much immediately fans were upset with the graphic and disturbing sexual content from the Season premiere. And then after Episode 2, titled “The Rapist Is Winter,” premiered yesterday, fans were once again up in arms, but not about content as much as they were about the… lack of it?

If you saw 1923 Season 1 on Paramount+, you already know that Spencer Dutton (Brandon Sklenar), the handsome and adventurous son of James Dutton (Tim McGraw’s character in the first Yellowstone prequel series 1883), has spent his time hunting in Africa following his service to the United States military in World War I. Always drinking, he essentially needs to find ways to make his life exciting (and simultaneously escape reality) following the war, and is hired in Kenya to hunt leopards that are attacking people at this fancy safari place. He meets Alexandra, they fall in love, yada yada, but the big part of Spencer’s story as it relates to the overall Dutton family is that… he’s not there. They’re in Montana trying to fend off these attacks from Banner Creighton (Jerome Flynn) and Donald Whitfield (Timothy Dalton), and Spencer is overseas. Granted, he spend half the first season trying to get back home, and then is separated from his new wife, Alexandra, at the end of the season.

Now that Season 2 is here, fans have made it VERY clear that they want Spencer to get back to Montana quickly, and join the rest of his family for the bulk of Season 2. Fans do NOT want Spencer to spend all of Season 2 still trying to get back to Montana on what is essentially a side plot. But we know based on the previously released episode descriptions that Spencer might not arrive back to Montana until episode 7, the penultimate episode of the entire series (remember 1923 is only supposed to be 2 seasons).

Needless to say, fans went HARD in the comment section of the show’s latest Instagram post, calling out Taylor Sheridan for dragging it along with a snooze fest of an episode. And I’ll just say, that’s not my opinion, I’ve enjoyed the series so far, but the comments from fans has been overwhelming. But like I said earlier, I knew what to expect…

Check it out:

It’s clearly going to take Spencer 84 years to get to Montana

Maybe by season 4, Spencer will finally get to Montana

I’m exhausted. Get him home already

Spencer needs to get there asap! I swear this is going to be drawn out

I am getting really bored now waiting for Spencer to arrive home omg dragging this story line out to much

Progress. Spencer sent a telegram.

Pickup the pace please.

This episode was a bunch of nothing… now there’s 6 episodes left to wrap it up

Think it will be shame hope it’s not the case if it takes another whole season for him to get home

I think he’ll never make it home

It’s a shame you wait all week to see it. And is boring

Had to woke up season 2… think I’m just gonna watch the last episode and never watch another show written by this clown

This episode was a total filler. Nothing happened with Spencer’s story line. And the rest was a bunch of nonsense.

Not interested in watching Spencer eat pizza in Italy. Get to Montana already

TS is a compelling storyteller when he’s on his game, BUT… come on already!

Please why can’t he just get on a train like everyone else! It’s such a shame it’s getting silly!

I’m not expecting Spencer to get home until the end of the season unfortunately.

Worst episode of the series so far. Yawn.

We want Spencer to get home and we want to see his family instead of all these dumb side stories.

Only time will tell, but if you’re waiting for Spencer to get back to Montana, I think you’re going to be waiting for a long time. Don’t tell me you weren’t warned…

1923 airs every Sunday on Paramount+.
