It’s too bad Burger King’s is associated with the tagline “Have It Your Way,” because boaters on Lake Conroe are certainly having it their way thanks to this McDonald’s that’s located on the water.
There’s nothing like craving a cheeseburger and a sweet tea and then setting your sights on the iconic golden arches. That typically happen on a roadtrip, or a drive through town on your lunch break. But what if I told you there’s a place in Texas where you can crave a Big Mac while out on the water – and pull your boat right in to stop for a bite?
Now before I get too far into this, obviously restaurants located on the water aren’t a recent innovation. There are plenty of eateries located on docks or just on the shore that thrive off of customers coming off the lake, or loading up before they go out for a day on the water.
But those restaurants are typically locally owned, at least in my experience. I’ve got plenty of memories of lake days as a kid, and taking a boat ride to a great little burger shack at a marina not too far away. Were the burgers really that tasty, or did they just seem that way because I was having myself a lake day?
Sandwiches just taste better when someone hands you one right out of the water (pool, lake or ocean), and I’ll confidently die on that hill.
Sorry that I got off track there for a second. I’m really just trying to tell you about this McDonald’s in Montgomery, Texas that offers dockside service. It might not seem that special, but this has got to be rare… and I honestly wonder why? Fast food on the water just seems to make sense.
This specific McDonald’s is getting more attention as of late thanks to a video that Major League Fisherman posted earlier in February. Alton Jones Jr., one of the best bass anglers in the game, was out on Lake Conroe (Conroe, Texas, is actually the hometown of country music’s own Parker McCollum) wetting a few lines and decided to highlight the conveniently located McDonald’s (I like to call it Mickey D’s) in one of his videos. He was out on the lake on a somewhat cold and rainy day, so he decided to pull up to the McDonald’s dock to get himself a warm coffee.
Jones Jr. hilariously said this as he got the boat situated in the slip:
“We’re living in the future here at Lake Conroe.”
The Major League Fisherman didn’t use the mobile order option, but if he would have, I’m about Germ-Ex percent sure (99.9%) that a McDonald’s employee would have walked his order down to the dock. And like Alton Jr. said, if that’s not a sign that Lake Conroe is living in the future, I don’t know what is.
Social media users that stumbled across the video were blown away by the lakeside McDonald’s, and left comments like these underneath the post:
“Good decision until that coffee hits that turbo gurgle button in your stomach.”
“This is so awesome.”
“Should be mandatory at every lake.”
“If every lake in Texas had a dockside McDickies pick up, they’re might be a whole lot less grumpy anglers at the ramp.”
“This is elite.”
“Ain’t no McF**king way”
Yes, McF**king way.
