Those city folks don’t know how to wear chaps, eh?
Oh, Kim Kardashian. You’d think that with how many stylists and other beauty team members there are around her, they’d know this is not how you wear this garment.
The Kardashian clan recently celebrated a birthday, and if you are a fan of their show, then you know a Kardashian party is the Rolls Royce of events. They don’t half a** anything when it comes to throwing a shindig. Chicago, one of Kim’s daughters with Kanye West, turned seven years old, and the family threw a Wild West-themed party for Chicago and her friends to celebrate this milestone. The Chicago Showdown featured a massive cowboy boot cake, Chicago’s own Wild West town, and a lot of pink cowgirl hats for the little girls in attendance.
As we all know, birthday parties are usually for the parents, and so Kim and her crew were also dressed to the nines in their best Western wear. However, Kim had a major fashion flop as she sported full-length chaps that were on backwards.
For any readers who are not familiar with how full-length chaps should fit, think of them like a belt of sorts. They buckle in the front, and once secured around the waist, they are then zipped down the back or outside of the leg to secure the leather, protecting your limbs from the outside conditions.
Kim, however, fastened the belt to her back as if it were a dress being zipped up from behind.
Social media users who are familiar with how chaps should be worn were quick to call out Kim for this fashion faux pas. But some witty social media users (whom I know I want to be friends with) made the hilarious connection to Beyoncé and how this is yet another perfect example of folks claiming to be country who aren’t an ounce of country.
Needless to say, the comments slammed Kim for this.
“Kim, I think your chaps are on backwards!!!”
“Kowboy Kardashian.”
“I know y’all are ready for the Cowboy Carter tour.”
“This is what happens when people believe Beyoncé is country.”
“Not the chaps on BACKWARDS.”
“Gotta love the backwards chaps.”
“Ok is it Chicago’s birthday or Kim’s girl you’re all up in the pics let you baby shine on her day.”
“Chaps are on backwards!”
“Kim, this is not the moment.”
“It’s all about Kim on Chicago’s seventh birthday.”
“Please don’t come over to country. Beyoncé has already ruined it. Jay-Z bought her Grammy win.”
OOF…
Taking heat for the chaps AND stealing her kiddo’s spot in the limelight. I am sure that Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ‘Em” was played numerous times at this birthday event. And while I still don’t think Beyoncé is country, she’s got one thing right in the lyrics of this song… “This ain’t Texas.” This is California…
How about we leave country attire to the folks who are actually pushing cattle and working horses? Maybe we should stick to some white cowgirl boots in the future, Kim…
