President Donald Trump Meets With Chiefs Kicker Harrison Butker In The Oval Office

Loses the Super Bowl and still gets to meet the president.

There’s been a lot of discussion surrounding whether the Philadelphia Eagles were going to visit the White House after their recent Super Bowl win.

Initially, it was reported that the Eagles planned to decline their invite after the team collectively decided they didn’t want to take part in the tradition of meeting with the president after winning the Super Bowl. But soon after, it was reported that the Eagles were “looking forward to” the visit and would be accepting the invite after all – though as of right now it doesn’t sound like the invitation has even been sent out, so I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

And while the Eagles have yet to visit the White House, one member of the Kansas City Chiefs beat them to it.

While the Chiefs ended up losing to the Eagles in the Super Bowl, apparently kicker Harrison Butker still got invited to meet with President Donald Trump, and was spotted in the Oval Office speaking to Trump this morning.

Butker drew controversy last year for speaking out about his faith during a commencement speech at Benedictine College, and one part in particular seemed to really get people fired up:

“I want to speak directly to you briefly because I think it is you, the women, who have had the most diabolical lies told to you. How many of you are sitting here now about to cross the stage, and are thinking about all the promotions and titles you’re going to get in your career?

Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world. But I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world.”

Somehow that message (which, remember, was delivered to a group of devout Catholics) somehow got twisted into Butker telling women that their place is in the kitchen. Of course the same people who were mad about it also believe that men can get pregnant, so take the outrage with a grain of salt, but whatever. The point is, people were upset about his comments.

Butker has continued to stand by his speech and his faith, and his teammates have also had his back throughout the attacks that have been thrown at him from outside the organization. In fact, Butker recently signed a deal that made him the highest-paid kicker in NFL history, so it hasn’t exactly hurt his career any.

And we know President Donald Trump has become a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs recently too, praising quarterback Patrick Mahomes and especially his wife, Brittany Mahomes, after she supported him during the 2024 presidential election.

So it’s no surprise that today Butker visited with Trump in the Oval Office, especially after Butker endorsed Trump during the 2024 election.

At the time, Butker said that abortion was his top issue, and praised Trump for his commitment to life:

“I’m supporting the president that’s going to be the most pro-life president, and I think Donald Trump is the most pro-life president. That’s a topic that is the most crucial topic for me. I want us to be fighting for the most vulnerable, fighting for the unborn, and that’s what we should prioritize.”

It’s not the first time Butker has visited the White House, traveling with the Chiefs with President Joe Biden after their Super Bowl wins in both 2023 and 2024. And back in 2023, Butker decided to make a political statement with his attire during the visit, wearing a “pro-life tie” while meeting with Biden.

Butker’s tie read “Vulnerari Praesidio,” which translates to “Protect the most vulnerable” in Latin, and he also wore a gold pin of a baby’s feet, which is said to be the size of a 10-week old baby’s foot.

He explained his rationale for wearing it to the White House as a form of silent protest:

“Last year, a lot of thought went to it… I thought ‘wow this is an amazing place’ but unfortunately, there’s some laws being pushed through I don’t think value all human life. One of those laws is allowing abortion to be legal in this country, so to have a tie that, in Latin, I thought, brought attention to the unborn, because I am trying to learn more Latin, with going to the Latin mass, I picked “Vulnerari Praesidio,” which is ‘to protect the most vulnerable.’

The unborn are, to me, the greatest victims in our society. They don’t have a voice, they don’t necessarily look like humans, they’re not very big, they cant fight for themselves, there’s not as lot of people that are fighting for them and I just think it’s a great atrocity that’s occurring in this country with massacring the unborn.

And I felt like there’s no better place to send this message to the masses and represent the unborn at a place like the White House, where unfortunately their voice is not heard.”

We don’t know what Butker and Trump spoke about during their meeting today, though I’m sure abortion was probably a topic of conversation. And according to the White House, Trump “couldn’t have been happier” to meet with one of the GOATs of the kicking game.
