Jon Stewart Slices Open His Hand Smashing A Mug During Rant About DOGE & Prescription Drug Prices: “I’ll Be Going To The Hospital Soon”

Jon getting heated.

I’ll say, I generally like Jon Stewart. While he swings too far to the left for my political taste, I find him to be pretty funny for the most part, and fairly genuine… especially compared to most liberals and progressives. And like I said, I certainly don’t agree with his positions on everything, but I do think that he’s generally trying to find the truth and help the American people. Of course, Stewart is a comedian, not a journalist, but I think we all have to admit… lately the truth has been funnier than the fiction.

He certainly wasn’t afraid to point out how obvious the “Covid lab leak theory” was back in 2021, when a number of progressive “journalists” at the time would immediately brand anyone who even mentioned that idea a conspiracy theorist. Just watch how uncomfortable Stephen Colbert gets when Jon suggests that a massive coronavirus pandemic, that got started in Wuhan, China, maybe originated at the CORONAVIRUS LAB IN F***ING WUHAN, CHINA.

Of course, we now know that Covid-19 most likely originated at the Wuhan Lab, though some refuse to admit it.

He’s been a staunch advocate for the healthcare of veterans and 9/11 first responders, he’s been critical of Wall Street pundits like CNBC’s Jim Cramer, especially during the height of the 2008 financial crisis, and overall, he’s general philosophy is people over profits… hard to hate that. We might not always agree with how to best serve people over profits, or what the government’s role in that should be, but it’s a concept that I agree with as well.

On last night’s episode of The Daily Show, which, THANK GOD, he is hosting again. Trevor Noah is insufferable, and not at all funny. Still not sure how he got that gig, or any gig he gets (Grammys? C’mon…), but I digress.

Anyways, in a rant about DOGE, and in particular, pharmaceutical companies getting massive subsidies and then charging tons of money, he went a little too far and smashed his coffee cup against the desk, immediately slicing up his hand.

“This is where the real money is. The real money, the money our free market-ish system uses to prop up corporate profit at the expense of the taxpayer. Pharmaceutical companies get everything from our government: tax breaks, research grants, patent extensions worth billions of dollars. And what do we, the people get for it? The highest drug prices in the Western Hemisphere, and for some reason, the possibility of an infection in our perineum.

But you know what’s so horrible about our system now, and the corruption that lays within it? We’re so numb to it, we actually tout tiny cracks in that exploitation as victory. Oooh can it be? The companies we subsidize with billions of dollars are allowing us the privilege to negotiate the price of 10 of their drugs, and 10 is all of them, right? It would be embarrassing if it was a small drop in the bucket, and that the American people didn’t expect that we should negotiate for all their drugs, because we’ve already paid for it with our subsidies. COME ON.”

At that point, he smashed the mug, gashed up his hand, and laughed as he said:

“I’ll be going to the hospital soon.”

He finished up saying we can’t rely on big corporations to stifle their greed:

“What we do at pharmaceutical companies is like the worst Shark Tank deal in history… we are living in the upside down. And don’t blame the corporations. They are profit seeking psychopaths that need the lowest wages and the cheapest raw materials to drive their highest profits. But why do we, the taxpayers subsidize their psychopathy? That’s the waste, fraud and abuse in our system. That’s it. That what we should be going after, not the fantastical over generous terrorist condom allowances.”

Pretty well said… well, for the most part. Why can’t it be both? After COVID, it has certainly become clear to many more people that pharmaceutical companies are the enemy of the American people, hellbent on keeping people medicated and symptomatic, relying on the patented drugs that ONLY they can make. Do we need a number of drugs? Absolutely. Should they be making billions and billions of dollars off suffering people, funded in part with taxpayer dollars? I’m gonna go with… no.

But at the same time…. condoms for Hamas? We certainly don’t need tax dollars for that… but why can’t we do both. Get rid of the senseless, DEI-focused, wasteful spending that primarily benefits other countries on its face (and the own ambitions of the CIA and State Department in the shadows), AND get rid of the corporate corruption structure built on the back on working class Americans at the same time?

He continued by saying that he wants DOGE to work, but the sights had to be set on the largest fish in pond:

“Government’s role should be to ease the negative effects on Americans of that exploitation, not subsize that treachery with our money. We’re getting f***ed at a Diddy party and they’re making us buy the baby oil. Look man, I want DOGE to work, I want better efficiency I want to get rid of the Alphabet agencies that don’t do enough, make the Pentagon pass an audit. But we are DOGE-ing in the wrong place if we want to really change the system.”
