A new group of NASCAR legends headed to the Hall of Fame. Today, the sport announced the 2025 Hall of Fame class, which includes Carl Edwards and Ricky Rudd as part of the Modern Era Ballot, along with Ralph Moody, who was the top choice from the Pioneer Ballot: They break the categories into three separate groups, which includes Modern, Pioneer (those whose careers began over 60 years ago), and also the Landmark Award (those who’ve made outstanding contributions to the sport in varying roles). This year, the Landmark Award is going to Dr. Dean Sicking for Outstanding Contributions to NASCAR, as he was an instrumental figure in advancing motorsports safety through the development of the SAFER barrier. Rudd, a Chesapeake, Virginia native, totaled 23 wins, 194 top fives and 29 poles during his impressive 33-year Cup Series career. His 906 starts in the Cup Series rank second all-time to The King, Richard Petty. Carl Edwards actually used to be one of my favorite drivers, second to only Dale Earnhardt Jr. when they were both racing, and he has 72 NASCAR national series wins to his name, including 28 in the Cup Series. Unfortunately, the Columbia, Missouri native never captured that elusive Championship trophy in the Cup Series. He did win an Xfinity Series championship in 2007, and finished second in the Cup standings twice, closely losing the title to Tony Stewart in 2011 that came down to a tiebreaker. Edwards was a favorite among the ladies, too, for obvious reasons, and was known for performing his signature backflip off the car after every win: And Moody, who was from Tauton, Massachusetts, started out as a driver in 1956 and had five Cup Series wins. As an owner, he created Holman-Moody with John Holman in 1957 and they won 96 Cup wins and 83 poles during that time. The Induction Ceremony for this class will take place in Charlotte, North Carolina on February 7th, 2025. Congratulations to all of this year’s inductees... maybe we can get Carl to do a backflip at the induction ceremony? How badass would that be in a tuxedo... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfJKfQ8GU-Y
