Mark Hamill Suffers Embarrassing Wardrobe Malfunction As His Pants Fall Down While Presenting During BAFTA Film Awards

Mark Hamill evidently needs a better tailor.

The 73-year-old actor used to be in everyone’s good graces when he was just known as the guy who played Luke Skywalker in Star Wars. In recent years however, as he’s been outspoken in favor of Democratic candidates like Kamala Harris, he’s lost a lot of support from… well, Trump supporters.

Hamill has a rivalry with Trump and his supporters that rivals the bad blood between the Jedi and the Sith (Star Wars reference… look it up if you are confused).

So when Hamill was presenting the award for “Best Film” at the BAFTA Awards and his pants appeared to fall down, there were a lot of people online celebrating the mishap. While he was reading off the teleprompter, his trousers slowly but surely dropped down to his knees, and it’s a miracle that there was a lectern that kept most of it out of eye sight.

It obviously caught Hamill off guard, and it certainly had everyone in attendance clutching at their figurative (or literal) pearls. And it’s honestly really weird because his pants looked fine as he walked on and off stage, and they looked to be okay and showed no signs of falling down before the BAFTAs officially got going:

Though when it was time for Hamill to take center stage, those pants were dropping it like it was hot.

As the Star Wars actor read from the teleprompter, his voice did sound a little shaky (we’re obviously hoping there’s no sort of medical issues here). Could it have been nerves that somehow caused Mark to nervously and accidentally shimmy out of his drawers? Or maybe the suit he was wearing was too big to begin with, and a ill-timed pop of a button or pin coming loose caused this nightmare scenario?

According to someone there, it wasn’t just a horrible moment for Mark. A source that apparently attended the BAFTAs told The Sun that the wardrobe malfunction shocked the celebrity-filled audience:

“Mark started speaking then his suit trousers just dropped to his knees. It was like they were too big for him. All the big stars such as Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande, Adrien Brody would have seen it from their angle. Most guests looked horrified but said nothing. They were turning to each other wide-eyed as if to say, did that just happen?”

It’s truly one of the more awkward moments I’ve seen on live television. If Will Smith hadn’t slapped Chris Rock at the 2022 Academy Awards, I might have even put this at number one on the power rankings:

Hey… at the very least, shoutout to Mark Hamill for keeping it together while that was happening.

His pants were falling down to his knees, and there’s a good chance that many in the front row were getting a real good look at the movie star, yet he never missed a beat on the teleprompter. Sure, his voice might have gotten a little higher, but that was the worst of it. Hamill truly handled it like a pro. If only he could handle the simple act of wearing pants the same way.
