Awkward day at the office…
Of course Barstool Sports isn’t exactly your traditional workplace, so it’s not like Brianna Chickenfry is going into the office with all of her coworkers every single day. But apparently, that might be for the best.
Chickenfry (whose real name is Brianna LaPaglia) is of course the ex-girlfriend of country music superstar Zach Bryan. And following their messy breakup last fall, the Barstool personality made some bombshell allegations against her ex-boyfriend, claiming he offered her $12 million to sign an NDA while also alleging emotional abuse and cheating.
Brianna got a lot of support after coming forward with her story, but since then she’s received a lot of criticism for (allegedly) blindsiding and dumping her best friend of 15 years, her former podcast co-host Grace O’Malley. And she’s also tried to capitalize on her viral fame (not that she wasn’t already “famous” before) by appearing in a swimsuit on the cover of Sports Illustrated last month.
So yeah, I think it’s safe to say that Brianna Chickenfry is a polarizing figure.
And one of her co-workers clearly isn’t a fan.
Kirk Minihane is an outspoken former radio host who now works at Barstool, hosting his own podcast The Kirk Minihane Show, as well as The Unnamed Show alongside Barstool Sports founder (and one of Chickenfry’s most outspoken supporters) Dave Portnoy. And he’s made no bones about his hatred for Chickenfry, calling her out on several occasions on his podcast and claiming that she receives unfair treatment from Portnoy.
But recently, Chickenfry called out Minihane by name when she was on a podcast and complaining about…podcasters:
“Podcasters. Terrible. Hate podcasters. They’re the worst. Kirk Minihane.”
Ironic? Sure, especially considering she hosts her own podcast, BFFs, at Barstool, and was hired on in the first place because of her Plan Bri podcast.
But Minihane wasn’t fazed by the criticism, and went scorched earth on Chickenfry during today’s live episode of his own podcast:
“She can hate me. I hate her. She can hate me, I respect that. That’s fine…
Brianna Chickenfry should hate me. I’m fine with that. I hate her.”
Minihane said that his comments would probably get him in hot water with Portnoy, but it wouldn’t be the first time: Back in December, Kirk called Brianna “the biggest fraud on the internet” after Chickenfry became a Taylor Swift fan following her breakup with Zach. And after Brianna sent the clip to Portnoy, the boss called Minihane and briefly fired him over his comments.
But that didn’t stop Kirk from continuing to unleash on his co-worker:
“I know that her dad is probably going to text me now, he’s probably going to be all upset…
But I will say, I hate Brianna Chickenfry and I wish her nothing but misery for the rest of her life. She can hate me, believe me, my hate will outlive yours.
I’ll just say I’ve had several conversations with somebody she was in a relationship with on the phone, and as Robert DeNiro said in The Heat, there’s a flipside to that coin. There’s always another story. His, hers, and the truth.”
Now, Minihane didn’t confirm who he spoke to, but he implied that it was in fact Zach Bryan by mentioning that he was offered a trip to Ann Arbor – where Zach just announced he would be playing a concert.
“She can hate me all she wants. That’s fine. I think she’s a repugnant human being. The world is worse off because she’s in it.
And everybody at the company hates her. Everybody at the company hates her. But only one person has the balls to say it. What else is new?”
Of course, this kind of inter-office drama is nothing new for Barstool, which thrives on this kind of content. But Kirk and Brianna seem to particularly despise each other given their history.
