Chiefs Fan Spent $38,000 On Super Bowl Tickets Just To Go Watch Them Get Pummeled By The Eagles

Was it really worth it?

I think not…

Last night, the Kansas City Chiefs got a good old fashioned beat down from the Philadelphia Eagles, losing in the Super Bowl by a score of 40-22. It got so bad that the Eagles eventually took out Jalen Hurts and put in their backup QB Kenny Pickett with a couple minutes left in the game…

I think many fans were happy to see Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and the rest of the Chiefs “humbled” by the embarrassing loss, and honestly, fair. I wasn’t really cheering for either team, but I was happy to see the Chiefs lose the game too, honestly. Call me a hater if you want…

In terms of commercials, nothing really suck out to me too much, but they certainly should’ve because the in-game ad spots were average $7 million for a 30-second spot.

The tickets were obviously astronomically priced too, and influencer and podcaster Jason Tartick shared a now-viral video of how much some fans paid to get into the game. Most tickets are distributed through the two teams that make it to the Super Bowl, the host city, as well as various corporate sponsors, leaving little left for the average fan to purchase.

And when I say “the average fan,” I mean someone who has thousands of dollars to spend and be okay with never getting back should their team lose, because someone’s obviously gonna lose.

One KC fan told Tartick that she spent a total of $38,000 on four tickets… yes you heard that right, she spent $38,000 to go watch her team get their behinds beat… ROUGH:

“13,000 a ticket. I bought two at $13,000 and I bought another two at $6,000.”

Another fan bought four tickets for $12,500, spending a total of $50,000 on tickets (not sure who he was cheering for). Most were averaging around $7,000 or $8,000, though one guy scored some for $4,800.

But the first lady, the only one who clearly looked like a Chiefs fan in the video, spend $38,000 to watch them lose. I just can’t even fathom that, in addition to all the travel and food expenses down in New Orleans. I mean, even if they won, that’s honestly insane.

I get wanting to support your team, because if the Panthers ever make it back to a Super Bowl I would probably consider spending too much, but almost $40,000? Even if you had the money to blow, it’s just ridiculous. I know it’s the Super Bowl, but still. Maybe I’m not as big of a fan as I thought?

Hope this lady and her family saved a little bit of extra money for drinks at the airport bar this morning… they’re gonna need it.
