Harrison Ford Says ‘1923’ Season 2 Script Is Brilliant: “It’s A Treasure For An Actor To Read This Kind Of Stuff”

High praise from an acting legend. Say what you want about Taylor Sheridan or how Yellowstone ended, but you probably won't hear anything negative from the people who work alongside him. Well, maybe other than Kevin Costner. And to be fair, both Costner and Sheridan had nothing but nice things to say about each other during the Yellowstone contract dispute that wound up with Costner exiting the show and Sheridan having to scramble to kill of his lead character, John Dutton. Now, behind closed doors it may be a different story, but to the public, it appeared as though there was still a lot of mutual respect between the two. But overall, everybody who works with Taylor Sheridan has nothing but overwhelming praise for his talent as a writer, director, and as a cinematic visionary. In addition to Costner, we're talking about heavy hitters like Oscar winner Billy Bob Thornton, Emmy winner Jon Hamm, Oscar winner Helen Mirren, Oscar nominee Jeremy Renner, Oscar nominee Sylvester Stallone... the list goes on. 1923, the second installment of the Yellowstone prequels, is returning next month for its second and final season, and fans are PUMPED for the critically-acclaimed Paramount+ show to be back after such a long break. 1923 is arguably the best show Sheridan has ever made, and just the scale alone is impressive. Spanning multiple countries, tons of period-appropriate set design and production, costumes... they reportedly spend a whopping $22 million per episode to make this visually stunning masterpiece. But aside from just the visually striking elements of the show, the script and the story are really the backbone of the show. And according to the cast, Season 2 is even better. Julia Schlaepfer, who plays Spencer Dutton's love interest Alexandra, said she was weeping when she read the Season 2 script: "Taylor sent me the scripts and I was weeping, and I called him. It was very very emotional.." Brandon Sklenar, who plays the studly Spencer Dutton, said Taylor went especially hard this season. "He really brought it with his writing. He always does but this just feels like a whole other level." Acting legend Harrison Ford, who you can imagine has read a TON of scripts during his 60-year career, called it a treasure to read. And as you can imagine, sometimes an actor takes a gig because they love the project and other times they take a gig to pay the bills. Both Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren took this job without ever seeing a script... a testament to Taylor Sheridan's reputation among actors: "It's a treasure for an actor to read this kind of stuff." And of the production team, Jerome Flynn, who plays villain Banner Creighton, praised the overall buy-in from everybody involved: "Everybody's invested, there's a real devotion to their work and their art... I don't know how they do it."
