![Diehard Notre Dame Fan Shane Gillis Takes Shot At Former Irish Coach Brian Kelly: “Went To LSU & He’s Gonna Ruin That Program”]()
![Gillis]()
No one can talk sh*t better than comedian Shane Gillis.
We saw that in action when Gillis squared off - albeit accidentally - with legendary college football coach Nick Saban. It was the rivalry that no one saw coming when it first got started on ESPN's
College GameDay. Shane Gillis and the former Alabama Crimson Tide trading verbal blows about Alabama allegedly cheating on national television was exemplarily entertainment.
And they apparently still don't like each other.
However, that didn't stop Gillis from returning to ESPN in order to provide some more entertainment to sports fans. It's very well known that he's a huge Notre Dame fan, and with the Fighting Irish playing in tonight's College Football Playoff Championship game, it only made sense that the comedian stopped by
The Pat McAfee Show - which was set up at Mercedes-Benz Stadium ahead of the big game.
Before Shane Gillis ripped into a former head coach of the Irish, he first answered a question about how he felt about Notre Dame this season. Marcus Freeman's team suffered an embarrassing early season loss to a small school by the name of Northern Illinois. Many thought the Fighting Irish were cooked after that, but it turned out to be the squad's only loss of the season.
But like I said, even Shane Gillis was out on them following the Northern Illinois upset, and the loss apparently even caused Gillis' father to have a heart attack:
"After Northern Illinois, I had lost faith. Admittedly. My dad had a heart attack from that. He's back. He's worked his way back to health and he's here (at the championship game). He made it all the way back to Atlanta."
Glad Shane's father is alright... you better not lose tonight Notre Dame.
The conversation went on to the job that current head coach Marcus Freeman has done with the Fighting Irish football team. Gillis was quick to commend the job - and the person - that has lead Notre Dame to the national championship game:
"Marcus Freeman is the man. He's the nicest, coolest guy."
Pat McAfee then pivoted to the quote (that's been getting a lot of attention as of late) from former Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly, who now coaches the LSU Tigers. He had previously said that Notre Dame wouldn't ever get enough support to be able to win a national championship. Now, Freeman has the team one win away from doing what Kelly said could never be done.
Shane Gillis didn't hold back with his response to Kelly's quote:
"He went to LSU and he's going to ruin that program."

Tell us how you really feel Shane Gillis.
And hey, that might seem harsh, but there are a lot of Notre Dame fans (and even LSU fans) that feel the same way:
You know what? That's probably true. Now that Brian Kelly is gone, I like Notre Dame a little bit more and like LSU a little bit less. That last comments adds up...
