‘Landman’ Star Michelle Randolph Says Billy Bob Thornton “Drinks Bud Light Like It’s Water”

Landman

Billy Bob Bud Light? Taylor Sheridan's latest show Landman certainly grabbed the attention of the masses during its first season. A plethora of viral moments undoubtedly helped with that, but the stellar cast of Billy Bob Thornton, Jon Hamm, Ali Larter and Demi Moore among others also made it stand out as one of the most exciting shows on television. And a young actress by the name of Michelle Randolph who plays Ainsley, had a ton of scene-stealing moments throughout the first season. Most notably the scene that was shared between Billy Bob Thornton’s Tommy Norris where Ainsley told her father about her sexual relationship with her boyfriend. In case you missed it, I’ve included it below… prepare to have your jaw dropped: https://twitter.com/TrungTPhan/status/1858996630235807775?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1858996630235807775%7Ctwgr%5E1e0258f614b7476a125c9e533384abbef06a4a73%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.whiskeyriff.com%2F2025%2F01%2F13%2Flandman-unleashes-yet-another-epic-rant-as-fracking-scene-goes-viral-trade-that-mercedes-in-for-a-bicycle%2F Moving right along... Michelle Randolph was basically handpicked for her role in Landman after she starred in Sheridan's other Yellowstone spinoff project: 1923. During an interview with ExtraTV, the 27-year-old said that she feel incredibly grateful getting to star in two programs that have had such a cultural impact: "I feel like I'm pinching myself every single day. Booking '1923' was like the greatest experience of my life and working with Helen Mirren was so special." The conversation then turned to her character in Landman. Randolph voiced that she loves that Ainsley is basically the opposite of how she is in real life. You wouldn't be able to tell that though on screen, and that's a testament to the talent of young actress. When asked what she'd take away from the first season, or at the very least what she would remember most, Randolph didn't hesitate with her answer. She said that beer drinking sessions shared with Billy Bob Thornton while filming were as memorable as it gets, and Michelle excitedly revealed that she learned a lot about how much Bud Light she can handle: "I can drink a lot of Bud Light with Billy. He drinks Bud Light like it's water. That's the only beer he drinks." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWWTN4FuddE I'm sure deleting Bud Light with Billy Bob Thornton is a wonderful memory to have for an up and coming actress like Michelle Randolph. Though I'd be remiss if I didn't point out that earlier in the first season of Landman, Taylor Sheridan snuck in a little jab at Bud Light. Billy Bob Thornton’s character Tommy Norris sat down in a bar to talk some business, and the show decided to take a shot at the former best selling beer known as Bud Light. You know, before the whole Bud Light Boycott caused the light beer to lose its place atop the national sales list. There have been many real world examples of stores and bars having trouble getting rid of the Bud Light they have in stock, and now there’s a TV example as well. The server at the bar came up to the table to tell them that there was a “special on Bud Light,” to which Billy Bob Thornton’s character replied, “I bet you are.” Others at the table also question the “special,” and though it never directly references the Bud Light Boycott and how it was triggered by transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney, it’s implied and understood by the audience. I’m sure Anheuser-Busch and Bud Light probably thought they were in the clear after all this time, but as Taylor Sheridan pointed out in Landman, the Bud Light Boycott is still alive and well. The irony is that they opt for a pitcher of another Anheuser-Busch product: Michelob Ultra. In the show, Tommy Norris exclusively drinks those because he’s a recovering alcoholic, and according to him, those low calorie and low alcohol Mickeys don’t count. Hard to disagree with that logic, but it's funny to see that in real life, Billy Bob Thornton would have apparently taken that server up on the Bud Light promotion in a heartbeat. He definitely wouldn't have shut it down like Tommy Norris did below: https://twitter.com/CiCi_Texas_45/status/1871004637068657123?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1871004637068657123%7Ctwgr%5E36560380507e51792d64bb882d2158a6469d4d21%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.whiskeyriff.com%2F2024%2F12%2F23%2Ftaylor-sheridans-landman-subtly-roasts-bud-light-in-latest-episode-all-roads-lead-to-a-hole%2F
