Jon Gruden Apparently Just Discovered ‘The Walking Dead’ – “Might Be The Best Show I’ve Ever Seen”

Jon Gruden Walking Dead

Hey... I have to agree with Coach Gruden on this one. The Walking Dead is a great show. The zombie drama aired on AMC from 2010 to 2022, running for an impressive 11 seasons and fostering plenty of  incredible pop culture moments. Who could forget all of the "Carrrrll" memes? Or the fact that the show was the definition of appointment television in its early days. Personally, I remember having watch parties with friends and sitting on the edge of my seat for nearly every episode. As far as ratings go, The Walking Dead was pulling some absolutely crazy numbers during it's first six seasons. However, most trace the downfall of the show back to the controversial introduction of Jeffrey Dean-Morgan's Negan at the end of the sixth-season. That was the jumping off point for most. Many were turned off by the massive cliffhanger that season six finished with, and fans passionately hated the big reveal when season seven rolled around. Pair that with some questionable exits by main characters post season six and you had the makings of a series that limped to the finish line as a shell of its former self. Sometimes a show just has to know when to end. I stayed with it until the bitter end just because I had to see it through, you know? I invested a ton of time - and a lot of my childhood - into the show. The least I could do was finish it out, even if some of the later seasons were laborsome viewing. Though I will say, the spinoff titled The Ones Who Live (now streaming on Netflix) was remarkable, mainly because it featured the return of Andrew Lincoln's Rick Grimes. And other spinoffs in the "Walking Dead Universe" are popular as well, though none have as loyal of a following as the original show in its hey day. What were we talking about again? Oh yes. That's right. Former NFL coach and current Barstool Sports personality Jon Gruden is apparently a huge fan of the AMC series. Though it seems like he is a little late to the party. The show originally aired almost two decades ago (damn I'm getting old), and after 11 seasons, it aired it's season finale over two years ago. Gruden was caught during a live watch-along broadcast talking about the show like it just came out: "I wish I was at home watching 'The Walking Dead.' You ever see The Walking Dead? Might be the best show I've ever seen. I mean... people are getting eaten man. Innocent people just get snarfed. And you start rooting for the walking dead. I started rooting for them. I can't wait to see what happens." https://twitter.com/BarstoolGruden/status/1878278874208870569 Can't wait to see what happens? How has Coach Gruden avoided all of the spoilers along the way? I'm guessing since the show aired on Sunday nights, and he used to be caught up in the hustle and bustle of NFL coaching, it's possible that he just missed out on the cultural phenomenon entirely. It's just objectively hilarious to hear him talk about it like the next episode is coming out next week. What a wholesome dad moment. Gruden... the whole show is out, and it's been out for quite some time. BINGE IT. FINISH IT! Catch up with the rest of the world. Matter of fact, since most fans jumped ship halfway through, if he can stick with the show past season seven, he'd actually be ahead of most people if he finished it. And based on how he's talking about it, sounds like Gruden loves himself some Walking Dead...
