Dallas Cowboys Fans Explode With Joy At News Of Mike McCarthy Exit

Mike McCarthy

The reports are in, and it appears that Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy is out for next season. Sources confirmed to Yahoo Sports' Jori Epstein that McCarthy's tenure as the Dallas Cowboys head coach has ended. The two parties were unable to reach a contract agreement. https://twitter.com/JoriEpstein/status/1878856065569444315 The Cowboys began the 2024/2025 season with high hopes, as they often do, but they failed to perform out of the gate. The team finished its season with a 7-10 record, which included a few significant losses. One of those tragic losses was a 41-7 defeat against their rival, the Philadelphia Eagles, in week seventeen. McCarthy was not all bad news this season. He helped the team turn things around mid-season, winning four of five games after falling to 3-7. However, after losing the season's final two games, it was time to renegotiate his contract, which led to the search for a new coach. There are rumors that McCarthy might head to Chicago to be the Bear's head coach, even though the Cowboys denied the Chicago Bears' request to interview McCarthy for their open head coaching position last week. However, if McCarthy chooses to interview if the Bears are still interested, he might be headed to the Windy City. As for the future of the Cowboys, social media says that Deon Sanders is favored as the next head coach pick. https://twitter.com/_MLFootball/status/1878861360433643978 This choice would be interesting, given that Jerry Jones dodged a question about Sanders being a head coach in a 2024 interview for The Stephen A. Smith Show. “What if I said to you, ‘Jerry, Cowboys are going to lose again.’ And as a result you gonna find yourself feeling the need to make a change. And Jerry Jones decides one day down the road in the near future, assuming that he doesn’t achieve the success that he covets, that he’s going to hire Prime Time Deion Sanders as a head coach. That would be crazy. Is Jerry Jones crazy enough to do something like that someday?” Time will only tell what the future holds for this NFL franchise. While a few fans are sad to see any coach go, many Dallas Cowboys fans are throwing a party today after hearing this news. Social media is on fire right now, with fans posting joyous memes and TV/movie clips to celebrate this news.
